JUNE 12, 2017 LEADERSHIP TEAM UPDATE
June 12, 2017 6:30-9:00pm at the Ministry Center
Present: Jason Seiberlich, Wes Andersen, Steve Abramowski, Jeff Guenther, Ron Takacs, Pastor Ben, Pastor Bill
The meeting opened with a devotion led by Pastor Ben on one of the Hallel Psalms, Psalm 115. This Psalm leads us to give glory to God in all things because He is the one who sets his plan into action. His plan is far greater and more wonderful than any plan we could come up with. We give glory to God because he is our provider, the giver of every good and perfect gift. We give glory to God because He is our creator. This Psalm is like a commentary on the Lord’s Prayer Petition, “Hallowed be your name.”
Among the Victory stories we shared were: the Jordan Moore Fundraiser a huge success / thanks to the TNT small group!; five youth confirmands; a special gift to Victory Kids out of thanks for the program’s impact; noted that during our prayer request time in worship we often receive prayer requests from our guests!
Youth – We need to have more information on our website about Victory Kids and Quest.
Worship – The Sanctuary Art project is now back up and running. Jason Seiberlich is going to help coordinate the final decisions with the goal of completion by the end of the year.
Outreach – Soccer Camp is later this week, over 200 have registered. A new Bible 101 class will begin in July with options: Super Saturday or four Wednesdays in a row. Approved Pastor Ben’s request to look into partnering with “Praise and Proclaim” — an evangelism training opportunity for our congregation. Pastor Ben has a couple of weddings for prospects coming up. Musician Chris Driesbach will be here on August 11 to perform a concert at 7 pm. Grill out at 6 pm before that all are welcome to attend.
Discipleship – New Members:
5-17 Andy and Rebecca Wilson, Anna, Noah, Ethan
5-24 Baptism of Daley Jay Sikorski
5-26 Tom and Debbie Dreyer
5-28 Baptism of Isaac Philip Johnson
6-4 Baptism of Astrid Loretta LeMarr
6-5 Chad and Katie Kirchner, Justin and Seth
We have a couple members now regularly helping out at the Coventry home from training runs/walks every Wed.
There are 13 people enrolled in Bible 201.
Member care – Our pastors requested advice and prayers concerning a number of challenging situations that people are facing.
Special situations – discussed security measures at the ministry center and desire to develop emergency procedures in the event of an emergency. We will contact the Franklin Police Department to help us with this and seek to schedule a training event for our volunteers.
Meeting adjourned after prayer. An additional meeting is set for June 26 due to need to elect new Leadership Team member to replace Wes Andersen who is stepping down after serving for 7 years.
JUNE 26, 2017 LEADERSHIP TEAM UPDATE
June 26, 2017 6:30-8:30pm at the Ministry Center
Present: Jim Vogel, Jay Justmann, Jeff Guenther, Ron Takacs, Wes Andersen, Jason Seiberlich, Pastor Ben
Our meeting began with a brief devotion based on Psalm 73. Pastor Ben then led us in a prayer which prepared us for our meeting.
Jim Kehoe was chosen to serve on the Leadership Team to replace Wes Andersen who is stepping down after 7 years as part of a normal transition. We welcome Jim to the Leadership Team. He will be installed at an upcoming service in July. We also want to recognize and thank Wes for his 7 years of service. Wes has always been a great resource with a wealth of knowledge and has been a true leader of VOTL. We will miss you, Wes, and your quiet wisdom!
Our next order of business was the approval of our budget for the 2017-2018 Fiscal Year. Our fiscal year began on July 1st. The goal of VOTL is to function on a balanced budget. As of June 30th, we had received $289,386 in offerings compared to a financial ministry plan goal of $305,000 in offerings.
At the same time, July 1st is the beginning of a new phase in our ministry. We have to begin paying off the mortgage on our ministry center. This is a combined principal and interest commitment of over $9000 per month. For this reason, our financial ministry plan for the upcoming fiscal year reflects our prayerful goal of receiving $345,000 in offerings, an increase of $40,000.
While this is a substantial increase, we also recognize that God is continuing to bless VOTL with regular new guests, an increase of new members, and consistent numerical growth. We are accomplishing our mission of sharing Christ with today’s people!
Generous giving over the past decade has enabled our church to stay focused on our mission of spreading the Gospel. We trust that our mission will continue to motivate the people of VOTL to overflow as joyful givers who reflect the heart of God who gave his Son for us.
A word of practical encouragement: Now would be a great time to consider on-line giving if you are not already doing so. On-line giving helps to provide the Leadership Team with a consistent picture of where we are at as a church from month to month, so that adjustments can be made to our financial ministry plan if needed.
Victory of the Lamb is looking to schedule a Security Training event along with the Franklin Police Department and VOTL Volunteer Teams. More details as they become available.
