Tentatio is the testing, temptation, and trial that occur when God and his Word intersect with us and our world. God uses tentatio to drive us away from self and to his promises alone.
Sermon Text: Psalm 119:65-72
My Next Steps
Connect: When “bad things” happen, is that always bad? That’s what we tend to think. When we see people going through difficult times, we feel sorry for them. But sometimes these people will come back with incredible stories of how that “bad thing” actually turned out to be a blessing for them in some way.
Aha: When God allow trials and temptations into our lives, he has a purpose. He’s going to grow us, bless us, strengthen our faith, and bring us closer to himself.
Treasure: It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. (Psalm 119:71)
Challenge: From now on when you pray for others in difficult circumstances (or even for yourself), don’t pray only for deliverance, but pray also that, if it’s God’s plan and purpose, that he not simply take away the struggle, but use the struggle to accomplish his good purpose.
