In a current Ancestry.com commercial a man thinks he has a German heritage. But after connecting with Ancestry.com he finds out that he is not German at all! He is mostly Scottish and Irish.
Satan and our world try to confuse us about our identity too. Do these questions sound familiar: Have you made it? Are you good enough? Does your life really have any value? Way too many of us feel that we don’t measure up. But we’re looking for personal value in the wrong place. We’re looking to what we do and don’t do. We’re focused on what other people think. But it is what God thinks that truly matters. This Sunday Pastor Ben is going to lead us to see our real identity in Christ!
Thank you – Thank you for sharing your personal hopes and hopes for VotL last week in worship. It has been a blessing to pray over those hopes. ICYMI you can watch the sermon from last week Get Your Hopes Up High!

Celebration of Ministry – Mark your calendars! There will be a celebration of ministry for Pastor Ben, Sarah, Lydia, Sophia and Haylee on Sunday, February 11, from 2pm to 4pm. More details to follow next week!
Lead Pastor – Pastor Ben was the right person at the right time. We absolutely could not have had a better pastor than Pastor Ben. It has been a great privilege to serve along side of him these past 18 months. I have learned a lot.
God pulled on my heart to come to Victory about eighteen months ago through our mission of “sharing Christ’s victory with today’s people, loving people enough to meet them where they are at.” I am honored and humbled to be our next Lead Pastor. I thank God for our amazing Leadership Team and for you! I have great confidence in filling this role, not because of me, but because of our God and because of you. Lead Pastor is not a title but a joyous responsibility. I pray that God will lead and help me to fulfill this responsibility humbly with great joy and love for God and for you!
Teamwork has always been very important to me, and God blessed me with a great teammate in Pastor Ben. As you know, it didn’t take long for us to become best friends. I look forward to continuing our team approach with you and our next pastor as we meet people where they are at with the love of Christ!
Open Forum – Stay tuned for a date and time for an Open Forum to get your input on VOTL’s future and specifically what we are looking to put into a job description for the next Pastor.
Music Coordinator Position – Sarah has served her Savior and us with love and excellence! A few months ago, we began transitioning the Music Coordinator position from a volunteer position to a part time paid position. With Sarah also leaving, we have the Music Coordinator position to fill. Here is the Job description for the Music Coordinator position. If you, or someone you know are interested in filling this position, send a resume to our Leadership Team President, Jeff Guenther.
Resumes Still Being Accepted – If you were considering applying for the Office Manager or Communications Coordinator positions, the deadline to submit a resume has been extended. Please contact Jeff Guenther by Sunday, January 14, if you would like to be considered. The Office Manager will provide administrative support. The Communications Coordinator will develop and implement effective communications strategies for both our church and community audiences.
Bible 101 “Plus” – This new format class is the first step at our church for anyone who has questions about God or wants to learn what we believe. It also prepares you to receive Communion by studying the foundational teachings of the Christian faith. The teaching combines elements from the former Bible 101 and 201 classes. The group will meet at Victory of the Lamb ministry center on seven Wednesday evenings starting January 31st from 6:30-8pm. Please note the class is starting one week later than originally planned. There will be no class on February 14th. Register here
St Paul’s Franklin School Open House – St. Paul’s Lutheran School has been an educational tradition in Franklin for 150 years. They have an open house on Sunday, January 28th from 11:30am until 2pm. Come and see why their families love being a part of that school, grab a snack (a light lunch is provided), meet the teachers, see the classrooms, and learn about the great education available to students from 3k up to 8th grade. If the 28th doesn’t work for your schedule, call and set up a different time to visit (414-421-1930).
I hope to see you on Sunday!
Sharing Christ’s Victory,
