Victory News January 26, 2018

Dear friends,

Have you ever had one of those days? I had one of those this past week. I went for a run and fell on the ice. I entered my phone number incorrectly to set up a program on my phone. I mean really, who does that? Well, apparently I do that. ☹ And just for fun, I picked up a screw in the sidewall of one of my new tire’s, so I got to buy another new tire. Yay, for me.

Of course, those things fail to compare to more difficult things in life like racism at school, scans for cancer, or the shooting of a loved one by an armed robber. The trauma involved in those things and other things like them is off the charts.

Life in the sinful world is hard. That is why everyday I thank God that he has sent a rescuer, a Savior from sin and all its perils, Satan and all his lies, and the sting of death. Jesus is our Savior God. 1 Corinthians 15:57, “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

In Jesus we have someone to walk with us through the storms of life and the One who will take us to where Life is really going to be GREAT all the time. Friends, let’s keep our eyes on Jesus!

This Sunday Pastor Ben is going to continue our series “New Year Revolution.” His powerful message will be on our Purpose in Life. I hope you can make at 8:30am or 10:15am. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch the service on our livestream.

ICYMI here is the sermon from last week about M.A.D. (Making A Difference).

OPEN FORUM – What a great night at our Ministry Center this past Wednesday! Thanks for all who attended in person, online, and kept us in your prayers. We had great conversation about our vision and the gifts we would like to see in our next pastor. God is with us and is always doing we more than we see or expect. God is like that! 😊 Notes from the forum can be found here.

Celebration of Ministry –We will be having a celebration of ministry for Pastor Ben, Sarah and girls on Feb 11 from 2-4pm, with a short program at 3pm.  The celebration will include hors d’oeuvres, sweet treats, memories and a time to reminisce. We will be collecting donations for a ministry appreciation gift for Pastor Ben, Sarah and girls.  You can drop off cards and donations in the box in the lobby on Sunday mornings or mail them to VOTL, c/o Ministry Celebration, 11120 W Loomis Road, Franklin, WI 53132. If you are interested in helping prepare for the Celebration or donating food items, please see your email or contact Cassy Robbert, VOTL Events Coordinator, at cassyrobbert@gmail.com.

Bible 101 “Plus” – This new format class is the first step at our church for anyone who has questions about God or wants to learn what we believe. It also prepares you to receive Communion by studying the foundational teachings of the Christian faith. The teaching combines elements from the former Bible 101 and 201 classes. The group will meet at Victory of the Lamb ministry center on seven Wednesday evenings starting January 31st from 6:30-8pm. Please note the class is starting one week later than originally planned. There will be no class on February 14th. Register here

Free Starbucks – Wait…what? Grab a friend, bring some homework, and enjoy a free Starbucks drink to kick off our first High School Homework Night on February 6, from 6-8pm. We’ll be listening to music and hanging out with friends while we catch up on homework every Tuesday night from 6-8pm. Hope to see you there!

St Paul’s Franklin School Open House – St. Paul’s Lutheran School has been an educational tradition in Franklin for 150 years. They have an open house on Sunday, January 28th from 11:30am until 2pm. Come and see why families love being a part of that school, grab a snack (a light lunch is provided), meet the teachers, see the classrooms, and learn about the great education available to students from 3k up to 8th grade. If the 28th doesn’t work for your schedule, call and set up a different time to visit (414-421-1930).

Sharing Christ’s Victory!

Pastor Bill
