Weeks 10-11: Truss, The Shed, & Roof Decking
Week 10: It takes a lot of truss to build a church Week 10 was dominated by truss – those things that hold the roof up. There are a lot of them! It’s quite the procedure: finding the truss, walking and guiding the truss, lifting the truss, and setting the truss were all steps in the process before they could be nailed into place. Then repeat about 150 times. The Shed The long-awaited shed was finished enough to be able to move the…
Weeks 8-9: Volunteers Get In on the Action
Volunteers We are very thankful to all of the volunteers from Builders for Christ, who are serving their Lord by working to build this ministry center. The wood frame sections are framed up, many have been set in place and there are now many things that our “first timers” can now help out with. First-timers are volunteers from Victory of the Lamb and the community who wish to spend time helping out with construction and are trained on how to…
Week 7: Building Walls
The process of building walls for the sanctuary space was done in three days. In the meantime, the Builders For Christ workers started constructing the wood frame sections for the rest of the building.
Week 6: The Foundation & Camp Victory
“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 3:11 Concrete and Footings Site work continues and the concrete for the footings is starting to be poured. The Builders for Christ volunteers will soon be setting up their campsite and we’re waiting on a building permit for the shed, which will be the first “multi-purpose” room at the Ministry Center. The shed will act as a storage area for tools,…
Week 5: Groundbreaking!
A Groundbreaking Sunday The groundbreaking celebration started at Showtime Cinema with our regular church service starting at 9:09 am. At 11 am the first bus took off a quarter mile down the street to the building site at 11120 W. Loomis Rd. Three busloads and over 160 people later, the groundbreaking ceremony started.…
Week 1: Site Preparation – Things are a Movin’
Site preparation has started! Day 2 of site preparation and already the future church site has been transformed. Bulldozers, trucks and dirt make for some great entertainment. There is some temporary fencing around the perimeter, and the corners of the building are staked out.
A Big News Kind of Week!
Loan Request – Approved Thursday we received official word that our loan request was approved for the total amount we requested. This is big news that means our building project can move forward as planned without needing to reduce the size of the building or make significant changes to the scope or timeline of our project. For this I am led to say with the Psalmist, “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever!”(Psalm 118:1). So…
