Victory News – All Things New

Last Sunday at our new ministry center, so blessed! Happy New Year! Sometimes though at the hinge point between another year gone by and a new year that’s before us it’s easy to feel weary of same old, same old, isn’t it? Same old job, same old stresses and pressures in life, same old personal struggles. But here’s the great thing… God’s blessings to us are new every morning! As God grows us through word and sacrament, he promises that…

Chrstmas Eve — You’re Invited!

Dear Friends, It’s the most wonderful time of the year, or so the old song goes. Yet it doesn’t always feel that way—the hectic holiday schedule, family pressures, and emotional wounds are just a few reasons. But we here at Victory of the Lamb Church see the Christmas season as one that offers a unique opportunity to experience God’s love and grace in the midst of real life. That is the reason for “The Light of Christmas” celebration—to experience the…

Victory News – We’re Moving In!

The cross will be a lighted beacon of hope along Loomis Rd Emergency lighting inspection – passed! This means we’re officially good to go for having our first services this Sunday here at our new ministry center. Our first service Sunday begins at 9 am. The second will start at 10:45. A new era of sharing Christ’s victory begins! Here’s what’s going on: Friday – Calling All Helpers! There’s a lot still to do here at the ministry center to…

Help Needed This Week – note a few tweaks

Kids Christmas Pageant – “Operation Baby King” What a great day yesterday for our final Sunday at Showtime Cinema! The Kids Christmas Pageant was super. Caleb’s message about God’s faithfulness was encouraging. And the army of volunteers we had helping out before, during, and after the service was inspiring! A couple things to know about this week: Tonight at 6 pm is our emergency lighting inspection. Please pray this goes smoothly without any hitch. Tonight at 7 pm – assuming…

Moving Help Needed

Dear Friends, God-willing, December 20th will be our first services in our new ministry center. (We have one final inspection to pass this coming Monday night before receiving occupancy, on Tuesday morning.) That means we have 10 days starting today to move in so that we’re ready for the 20th. There is cleaning, organizing, assembling, and yes…moving…that needs to get done in this process. So I’m personally asking for some extra special help the next couple days in this already…

Victory News – Coming Soon

Soon… our new sanctuary will be filled with chairs… and people! 1st services on December 20th at 9 and 10:45 am Coming soon… After having church in a movie theater for many years, I’m used to hearing this phrase. The new Star Wars movie is “coming soon” for example (as if anybody needed to be reminded of this!). Actually though this is a key message that Jesus Christ himself wants us to be reminded of and to take to heart.…

Victory News – Anticipation

What are you most looking forward to? That’s a question I’ve been asked repeatedly the last couple weeks as our ministry center building project has been coming to a conclusion and we hope to have our first services there now on December 20th. My answer, truthfully? Seeing more people fill the chairs (which you helped buy—thank you!) who might not yet know the victory that Jesus won for them. But also just seeing how God’s going to surprise us with…

Victory News – Change of Plans

1989, Domino Rally. I remember it well. I got it for Christmas that year. The cover of the box says it all: “It’s a chain reaction of surprising stunts and non-stop action.” Simply set up the plastic framework, place the dominoes one by one, and 3-2-1… domino powered rocket liftoff! Except it was never that simple. What I learned trying to set up those hundreds of dominoes is that often just one little nudge, one shaky finger, or one accidental…

Victory News – Everything Sad Untrue

Picture from the book “The Jesus Storybook Bible” depicting Revelation chapter 21 Upon waking up, after experiencing the horrors of Mt. Doom, Sam sees Gandalf and he says: “Gandalf! I thought you were dead! But then I thought I was dead myself. Is everything sad going to come untrue? What’s happened to the world?”  “A great Shadow has departed,” said Gandalf, and then he laughed and the sound was like music, or like water in a parched land; and as…

Victory News – One. More. Month.

Our audio / video / lighting crew has arrived Last Sunday was a fantastic start to our new series It’s the end of the world…and I feel fine! as well as the start to the end of our time at Showtime Cinema. I was amazed how full the movie theater felt with over 250 people in attendance between adults and kids. I’m so thankful that God has brought us to this point where in just a month we’ll be moving…

Victory News – It’s the Final Countdown!

It’s the final countdown. (I can’t even say this without hearing the song in my head—one of my pep band favorites!) God-willing, it now looks like November will be our last month as a church in a movie theater. That means 5 more Sundays at Showtime Cinema. Then on December 6th we hope to begin worshiping at our brand new ministry center just down the road at 11120 W Loomis Rd. On December 6th our plan is to begin with…

Victory News – Generously Living

“I love my church.” Next to “I love you, Dad/Mom” and “I love Jesus”…isn’t this just about the most fantastic thing you could ever hope to hear a kid say—especially when unprompted and unforced? But this is exactly what was overhead this past Sunday as parents and kids got a special tour of the Victory Kids wing of our new ministry center. Cassy did a super job laying out our vision for Victory Kids—the name of our new Sunday morning…
