A Groundbreaking Sunday
The groundbreaking celebration started at Showtime Cinema with our regular church service starting at 9:09 am. After the service the Victory Cafe crew treated us to a delicious spread while tear-down teams put everything away in kid’s areas and main worship space to reset the theaters for movies.
At 11 am the first bus took off a quarter mile down the street to the building site at 11120 W. Loomis Rd. Three busloads and over 160 people later, the groundbreaking ceremony started. Highlights included the tossing of dirt, writing on rocks and a rousing rendition of “Build Your Kingdom Here” led by a few worship band members. Later during the week the prayer rocks were placed into the cement as the footings were being poured. Thank you to all who participated and to all who helped out.
Built On The Rock
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” – Matthew 7:24-27
Later in the week, the prayer rocks were inserted into the foundation of the building.
