Happy Birthday!! It is time to celebrate at Victory! This Sunday is what many people call the birthday of the Christian Church, or Pentecost. Pentecost is when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the disciples who were still in hiding after Jesus crucifixion. The Holy Spirit empowered these timid believers to go out into all the world and proclaim the good news. After Peter’s Pentecost message about 3,000 people came to faith!!
This weekend Pastor Ben is going to continue our series on Ordinary People Extraordinary God. If you have ever been fearful, unsure, timid, or weak in your faith, I really encourage you come to worship this weekend because we are going to see that God is patient with the wavering and is the power of the weak! You see, the Holy Spirit is still at work today bringing people to faith, giving courage and empowering us to lead sanctified lives and sharing the amazing message of Jesus Christ, Savior of the World. I hope to see you this weekend at 9 am or 10:45 am!
By the way if you missed last weekend’s message on “The Fuss about the Plus,” you can see it here. This is a great message of God’s love for us as we learned that God is jealous not of us but for us.
Summer Worship – As you make vacation plans be sure to include worship wherever you go. If you find yourself away from Victory you can always check us out online at 9:00 am and 10:45 am through June 25. Then beginning on July 2 our worship service times and so our online worship times also move to 8:30 am and 10:15 am. Or you can check out the WELS Church Locater for a worship home near your vacation spot so you can join in some community building with fellow Christians.
Moore Family Fundraiser – Tomorrow, Saturday is the day for the Cookie and Car Wash Fundraiser for Jordan Moore! Thanks for all your support and help. There is still time to get the word out. Also know that gifts will be given out to the first 100 or so cars!! Excluding any emergencies, the Franklin Police Department will be here with a motorcycle unit and a K-9 unit between 8 and 10 am. We can always use some extra hands so if you haven’t signed up to help and still would like to, just come on by between 8 am and 1 pm tomorrow. There is a chance of rain but we will not call this event off unless it is a complete washout – so we will continue on through spotty showers. The rain date is June 17, 8 am to 1 pm. For more info: Visit the event page here. In the meantime please keep Jordan and her family in your prayers!
Bible 201 started this Wednesday. If you missed the first session but would still like to join in, I invite you to jump in by coming this Wednesday June 7 at 6:30 pm at our Ministry Center. The six session seminar will lead us to find out more about the Bible, the Triune God, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper! Bible 201 is for those who have completed Bible 101 or who want a review of these specific teachings of Jesus.
Soccer Camp 2017 – The excitement is building. The multipurpose room is filling up with supplies. Over 180 have already registered!! Our 10th annual Soccer Camp is June 13-16 from 11 am – 3 pm and includes lunch. Register here. Don’t wait…space is running out!
Worship Time Tweaks Coming in July! – Our church continues to grow and for this we praise God! Starting in July we’re going to change our service times to 8:30 and 10:15 am as a trial run for 6 months. Our goals are 1) free up parking spaces, sanctuary seats, and room in Victory Kids during the first service because studies have shown that when the sanctuary or parking lot becomes 80% full people start to stay away; and 2) create a more vibrant worship atmosphere during the second service. We will evaluate this experiment at the end of the year.
Get some exercise, Love our neighbors – Partnering with My Team Triumph, the Coventry group home we serve here in Franklin has become an official training site where people can come over and push the ladies in our special jogging strollers around the neighborhood. Pastor Ben, Pastor Bill, or Ryan Solie will be present every Wednesday at 5:30 pm from now through September and you are all invited to participate by coming over to run or walk as we push the ladies around a one mile loop in the neighborhood. Find out more and sign up here on our website. Give it a try! You can go at your own pace. It’s really not hard and it’s a wonderful way also for a family to get some exercise together while loving and serving our neighbors. P.S. It is a ton of fun too!!
Tuition Assistance Fund –To see the tuition assistance fund guidelines or to apply for tuition assistance before June 30, 2017 visit our Christian Education page of our website.
Church Accountant – Thank you Jayne Reuter for serving faithfully as our volunteer church accountant! At the start of the new fiscal year in July, Jayne is stepping down as our accountant in order to pursue other avenues of serving the Lord in our church. This means we have an open position for someone within in our church to volunteer and serve using their time and talents. If you’re interested to learn more please download and view this position description here.
Leadership Team Transition – With our gratitude, Wes Andersen, who has served faithfully on the Leadership Team for 7 years, will be stepping down at the end of this fiscal year (6/30). This opens up the opportunity for someone else to serve on our church’s Leadership Team. To fill two vacant positions back in November we received nominations from the congregation, requested feedback after publishing their names, and contacted those who were nominated to see who was willing to serve. The Leadership Team will select Wes’s replacement from this same list at our next Leadership Team scheduled for June 12th.
Sharing Christ’s Victory,
