We opened the meeting with Psalm 92, “A Song for the Sabbath Day…. It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to thy name, O Most High.”
As our Mission Center started to become a reality, there were members driving by day after day watching the construction progress. Since the completion of the Mission Center, we have welcomed people who watched the construction and stopped in to see what the Mission Center looks like. They liked what they saw, were fed with God’s Word when they stopped in, and some have become regular guests or new members.
The number of members that have cancer was talked about, and a possible need for a support group was discussed. This support group would provide comfort and a sounding board, letting each one know that they aren’t alone fighting this dreaded disease. If anyone is interested in starting this support group, contact any member of the Leadership Team.
Transferring the leadership from Cassy to Liz as the new Victory Kids director is going well. There has been great cooperation from those who have been involved with Victory Kids and also new volunteers coming forward, making for a smooth transition.
Pastor Bill is in the process of relocating his family to the area. He and Pastor Ben have been working on how their duties will be shared. We discussed the possibility of purchasing a parsonage for Pastor Bill as opposed to providing him a housing allowance. We believe we are being best stewards of God’s money by purchasing a parsonage. We believe this also takes great care of our called worker and his family. After special gifts from a couple of members, a down payment from our general fund, and a 3% uncollateralized loan from a member, we would be able to apply approximately $790 per month to principal.
God has blessed two family members of Victory of the Lamb, who have come forward and taken the funding and installation of the new electronic sign as a personal project. Kudo’s to the two families for taking on this project.
The financial ministry plan was approved for the fiscal year 2017. A separate communication piece will be coming with an overview of how your offerings to the Lord are being utilized to carry out our Mission. If you would like a copy of the full, final budget in detail you can contact any Leadership Team member.
As the Leadership Team’s role is to set a vision and direction for Victory of the Lamb, we discussed how well we have been carrying out that vision. The primary objective of this congregation is to proclaim the law and the Gospel through the Word and Sacraments, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We pray that through these means of Grace the Holy Spirit will lead people to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, as we EXALT, EVANGELIZE, EDIFY, ENCOURAGE, and EQUIP believers to be his disciples, stewards, witnesses, and servants to share the Gospel and to live our faith.
A discussion was held on the Leadership Team survey of 2016 for Pastor Ben. We acknowledged Pastor Ben’s strengths in preaching & worship, outreach & evangelism, counseling & encouragement, and teaching. Both Pastor Ben and Pastor Bill thought this was a great survey because it showed not only strengths but also areas for improvement. It also served as a review to keep on track and not wander away from the tasks at hand in carrying out our vision.
We look forward to a few exciting, upcoming events:
Welcome reception/meet and greet for Liz on Thursday 7/21 from 6 to 8pm.
Thank you party for Cassy on Sunday 7/31 from 2 to 4pm.
Pastor Bill’s installation party on Monday, August 7.
We concluded prayers for the Church, our people, and our pastors.
