God is Here

God is Here

big idea

So much of our lives have become restricted. Those limits have put major stress on us all. How do we find peace even when we feel frustrated? We need to recognize that God is here. In this series, we will look at how God led his people, the Israelites, through the wilderness with his loving presence. He provided for them, refreshed them, save them, and bless them. Even though that was thousands of years ago, God is still here with us today. He will provide for us, refresh us, save us, and bless us.

Series Breakdown

May 31, 2020: God Provides for Us

There is so much uncertainty in our world right now. We might wonder what will happen with our jobs, our schools, or our businesses. But even in the middle of all these restrictions, God will provide our daily bread. The same God who gave the Israelites daily manna will provide for our daily needs.
Sermon Text: Exodus 16 or Numbers 11

June 7: God Refreshes Us

COVID-19 restrictions might seem like they have been in effect forever. We might be feeling fed up and exhausted by now, wondering if we’ll ever find relief from this virus and its effects. But find comfort: the same God who refreshed the Israelite’s weary souls will refresh us as well. Jesus is the living water that refreshes our souls.
Sermon Text: Exodus 17:1-7 or Numbers 20

June 14, 2020: God Saves Us

After traveling through the desert, the Israelites were finally close to the Promised Land. But then God changed their direction. The people started to grumble and God allowed them to be bitten by snakes. In his grace, he provided healing through the bronze snake. When the consequences of our sin leave us in pain, Jesus said that we can look to him who was lifted up on the cross. He will save us and heal our hearts.
Sermon Text: Numbers 21:4-9

June 21: God Blesses Us

The Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years. Over and over again, they grumbled and rebelled against God. Yet, God was still with them and loved them. We see God’s steadfast love in the story of Balaam. Balaam was a sorcerer, who was hired to curse the Israelites. But he came to see that he could not curse those whom God has blessed. Maybe some people wonder of God is against us and is cursing us. But as forgiven children of God in Jesus Christ, God cannot curse those whom he has blessed.
Sermon Text: Numbers 23

The Crisis of Race and Racism

This week, we’ll take a bit of a departure from the sermon series to examine a global crisis. It was present long before COVID-19, and some people don’t even see it as a crisis. The crisis is racism. Throughout history, groups of people have been isolated, minimized, and shunned because of their skin color or origins. In this message, we’ll look at what God has to say about how we should treat all people in the human race. Sermon Text:…
