Focusing

We often get stuck in self-pity, focusing only on the negative. We think we’re all alone in our suffering. We need a change of focus. We need to stop and consider what God has done for us and what we share as members of his family. That change in focus has the power to change our whole attitude. Sermon Text: Philippians 1:2-11

Meditatio

Meditatio is the continual study of God’s Word, not just reading the words for the sake of reading the words, but reading and rereading them, carefully, attentively and reflectively, to gather what the Holy Spirit means by them. Sermon Text: Psalm 119:97-104

Oratio

Oratio is prayer. Prayer is where the study of God’s Word must begin because prayer begins with the ear. Prayer acknowledges God as Lord and says: “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” Sermon Text: Psalm 119:145-152

Why Is It So Hard to Do What I Should?

What do You Mean: “I’m Not Good Enough?”

There are a lot of really bad people out there, people who are certainly doing worse things than me. I try hard to do what’s right and make amends when I do wrong. How can you say I’m not good enough? Sermon Text: Luke 18:9-14

Why Do You Think Jesus Is God?

It takes some nerve for a man to claim to be God. How do we know that Jesus really is God and not just another religious fanatic who went a little too far? Sermon Text: Luke 22:66-71

Is There Life After Death?

“She’s in a better place.” We hear and use the phrase all the time. But is she really in a better place? Is there life after death and what is that life like? Philippians 1:20-26

Why Should I Trust the Bible?

What makes the Bible different from any other book? People point out all kinds of errors and inconsistencies in the Bible. Is the Bible really trustworthy? Sermon Text: Matthew 5:17-18

What Is God Really Like?

An angry judge, a doting grandfather, an attentive butler—these are all common caricatures of God. What is God really like? Exodus 34:5-7
Modern Family

Off Center

Children are a blessing and an important responsibility. Yet, what happens when children become the center of the home? Sermon Text: Philippians 2:3-5; Hebrews 12:2
