A Vision for Something Better
Nehemiah hears and sees the problem: the walls around the Temple are still broken down. The house of God is vulnerable to attack and dishonor. He fervently prays a prayer of repentance on behalf of himself and the people. He then meets with the leaders and clearly proclaims a vision of a better future for God’s people… with God’s help. At Victory, we pray for God’s guidance in reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory. We ask Him to help us…
Come Together: God’s People for the Gospel
Whenever the Holy Spirit breaks our hearts with the law and renews our hope in the Gospel, the Accuser quickly attacks our faith and tries to lead us back into pride, trouble, and despair. Because nothing is more of a threat to him than Christians overflowing with the hope of the Gospel. Despite these difficulties, God comforts and strengthens us. When we come together around the Gospel, we are strengthened in faith. God gives us his Word, Sacraments, and people…
Victory Core Values: Generosity
In the early church, when the people experienced a famine, Barnabas and Paul demonstrated generosity. They gathered an offering to help the people affected by the famine. They gave the little they had to help their brothers and sisters in Christ. At Victory, we have a culture of generosity that allows us to meet our needs as a church but also reach out into our community to share the love of Christ through acts of service and financial giving. Sermon…
Welcome to Victory: Mission
Before Jesus ascended into Heaven after his resurrection, he gave his disciples their mission, “You will be my witnesses… to the ends of the earth,” (Acts 1:8). Jesus wasn’t just talking to the disciples; he was talking to us. We are called to reach people with Christ’s victory, sharing the good news of Jesus’ resurrection with all people. This is our mission at Victory. We share Jesus in church every week, but most importantly in our communities and day-to-day interactions…
Everyone’s Welcome To the Table
David wrote in Psalm 23, “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” Jesus invites us to the Lord’s table where we gather to eat his true body for the forgiveness of sins. Christians gather regularly around the table at potlucks and family dinners to fellowship together and encourage each other. And then, there’s heaven. God’s table evokes images of salvation, story-telling, satisfaction, and singing – joy beyond the most amazing spread. But you probably have…
Generosity in Mission
Our building is an important aspect of our church; we use our facilities to worship and grow in faith with one another. But, our mission doesn’t stop at the end of our driveway. God calls us to take care of the lost – those who do not know Him. Because of God’s generosity to us, we can’t help ourselves but to show generosity to others in our local and global community. Luke 19:10
Qualified
“Christian-killer” doesn’t seem impressive on an apostle’s resume. Yet, that is who Jesus chose to grow his Church. Paul was an unlikely candidate to become a Christian, much less an apostle of Christ. In the same way, you might consider yourself under-qualified for the mission of Jesus’ Church, but God loves to be glorified through unexpected servants. Acts 9:1-20
Transformed
Jesus gave a mission to his followers left on earth to share the good news with all creation and proclaim Jesus as King. In the same way, the Ascended Jesus is sending every member of his Church on a mission to transform lives through the message of his grace.
Acts 1:1-11
The One to Follow (Purpose)
There are many different philosophical life-views out there; none as compelling and life-hanging as Jesus’ call: Follow me! Sermon Text: Matthew 4:12-23
Body Building
The Holy Spirit deals out spiritual gifts just as they are needed for the well-being of Christ’s church. That means that every person is essential.
Giving Up Our Rights
The church joyfully gives up its preferences if that will allow us to meet the perceived needs of those outside the church because God’s greatest desire is that all people come to know Jesus as we know him.
