Come Together: God’s People for the Gospel
Whenever the Holy Spirit breaks our hearts with the law and renews our hope in the Gospel, the Accuser quickly attacks our faith and tries to lead us back into pride, trouble, and despair. Because nothing is more of a threat to him than Christians overflowing with the hope of the Gospel. Despite these difficulties, God comforts and strengthens us. When we come together around the Gospel, we are strengthened in faith. God gives us his Word, Sacraments, and people…
God’s Call to Citizens
In a “cancel culture” society, you may find it difficult to honor and respect elected officials with different values and beliefs than your own. In His Word, God reminds us that He is the one who places people in positions of authority to fulfill His purpose. God has given us the gift of government, and so he calls us to be godly citizens. Sermon text: Romans 13:1-7
God’s Call to Employers
Being in a position of power and responsibility is a heavy burden to bear for those who employ others, and it can be tempting to use this power over others for our own benefit. Employers should use God’s wisdom in making decisions that impact their employees. This helps them lead with fairness and treat all with dignity and respect. Sermon Text: Ephesians 6:9
God’s Call to Employees
At one time or another, we have all found ourselves in jobs we do not like with bosses we cannot stand. We can find encouragement when we realize that, ultimately, it is God we work for. God calls employers and employees to work primarily for Him as they serve one another. Sermon Text: Ephesians 6:5-8
Jesus the Victor (Easter at Victory)
Jesus is the King who not only leads us into battle; he fights our battles for us and wins. An empty tomb means that our “defeats” are hallow wins for our enemy. An empty tomb means that our victory in Christ is sure even when there are setbacks along the way. The victory that you have been looking for is already yours in the resurrected and victorious King. And because of that, it’s time to celebrate! Sermon Text: 1 Corinthians 15:1-11,…
Jesus the Teacher (Maundy Thursday)
Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus is an expert teacher. He connects history with a new teaching “covenant,” making his lessons memorable for his followers and for us. His teaching is applicable and wise for salvation for all people. Jesus teaches us about himself and his work, which we are reminded of every time we take the Lord’s Supper. Sermon Text: Luke 22:19-20
United in Purpose Under Christ
God united us to live new lives of love and service, under one purpose. We no longer live for our own personal and individual gain. Instead we are to live as “children of the light”. Our old life of sin and selfishness leads to division and pain. But when we live for the good of others, we become a united family of love. Sermon Text: Ephesians 4:17-5:20
United in our Diversity
Our unity in Christ does not mean uniformity; it means diversity. The Church is the body of Christ and we are all unique members of his body. We all play a unique role in his kingdom. Our diverse gifts and callings allow us to complement each other so that we might all mature together. Sermon Text: Ephesians 4
United in Prayer – Understand God’s Love
Because God has made us the unified children of God, we can now approach our Father with freedom and confidence. Prayer is a unique opportunity for us to grow closer to God and know that he listens to us. Through prayer, we ask God to help us all grasp the height, depth, length, and width of his love so that we can grow even closer to God and one another. Sermon Text: Ephesians 3
Go with the Gospel
What does it look like to “go with the Gospel”? Victory’s mission is to “reach today’s people with Christ’s victory”. This mission comes directly from Jesus, who commanded his disciples to share the Gospel with the world. As followers of Jesus, we grow in our own faith when we are committed to sharing the Gospel with those who don’t know Christ. We can go out into the world, knowing that God is with us when we share our faith. Sermon…
Groups for Accountability
Worshiping Jesus in a large group is a huge blessing. But there are some things you can’t do in a large group. We can’t build intimate and trusting relationships. We can’t “spur one another on towards love and good deeds.” That’s why we need to gather in Life Groups. In a Life Group, we experience the powerful blessing of holding each other accountable to the Word of God. Sermon Text: Hebrews 10:19-25
Gather for Worship
The Early Church was made up of people who were very committed to one another and to Jesus. They met regularly, supported one another by selling property and possessions, and shared meals with one another. Because of this, the group of believers grew in number and in faith. Although it will look different today, the outcome of committing to gather for weekly worshiping with one another is the same: the church will grow, and so will each of us believers.…
