Promises: Present Authority

We want to share God with others and live according to His Word. But it’s a struggle. We’re scared, and we feel alone. God, who has the authority, promises to be there for you as you carry out the work of making disciples. You can be confident as you do His good works that he listens to you, cares for you, and is always there for you. Scriptures: Deuteronomy 31:6 Sermon Text: Matthew 28:19

I Won’t Condemn

As we examine ourselves under the Law, we feel shame. We know nothing we could ever do would allow us to earn our way into Heaven. But through Jesus, God promises to never condemn us or forsake us. Resting in this promise helps take away our guilt and fix our eyes on the miracle and gift of God’s grace. Scriptures: Psalm 32 Sermon Text: Romans 8:1

I’ll Answer

Through trials and challenges, we struggle to pray. We don’t know that there will be an answer or that God hears our prayers. But we can rest in God’s promise that he hears our every prayer, whether spoken or unspoken. This promise gives us the confidence to pray boldly, knowing our Heavenly Father listens to our every word. Scriptures: Psalm 116 Sermon Text: John 16:22-24

Self-Control, Not Willpower

Whether it’s junk food, acting on lust, over-committing, or some other sin we know we should avoid, saying no to temptation is hard. What we often forget when struggling with self-control is that it’s not all on us to stay away from sin. We don’t have to rely on sheer willpower; we can rely on God to help control our desires and be the people God intended us to be. Scriptures: Proverbs 25:27-28 Sermon Text: Titus 2:11-12
