Have Integrity

Through the Seventh Commandment, God tells us: You shall not steal. When we steal from others or take in another dishonest way, we are not only harming our communities; we are harming our relationship with God. To show love to others and God, we can serve in our communities to make improvements and protect those who live there. Scripture: Luke 12:15 Sermon Text: Exodus 20:15

Demonstrate Purity and Faithfulness

The Sixth Commandment directs: You shall not commit adultery. God created sex as a gift to be shared within a marriage, but our sinful desires often lead us to explore this gift in impure and unfaithful ways. When we obey this commandment, we are demonstrating love and respect not only to our spouses, but to ourselves and to God. Out of love for us, God leads us to live lives of purity and faithfulness. Scripture: Ephesians 5:1-4 Sermon Text: Exodus…

Help and Support Others

In the Fifth Commandment, God tells us: You shall not murder. Jesus expands this to include those thoughts, attitudes, and actions towards others which are done with ill intent. When we help and support our neighbors in every physical need, we are fearing and loving God. Through this commandment, God teaches us to treat all people as His children. Scripture: Luke 10:25-37 Sermon Text: Exodus 20:13

Honor Those in Authority

The Fourth Commandment directs us in how to treat our parents: Honor your father and your mother. Our sinful nature often leads us to disrespecting our parents and other authority figures. But God wants us to serve, obey, and love those He puts in authority over us. All parents, governments, bosses, and other leaders were put in position by God. Scripture: Luke 10:24-25, Romans 13:7 Sermon Text: Exodus 20:12

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is the day that begins the season of Lent, a time of repentance and reflection. When we take time to worship on this day, we realize our sin and our deep need for a Savior. Sermon Text: Mark 10:17-31
