High Expectations

Most of us have some pretty high expectations of ourselves. We begin to base our value, worth and purpose on what we do and how we are living our lives: what school did I go to, my degree, my position at work, what kind of family I have, how do my kids behave, and on and on. So we live a life of comparisons — comparing expectations of ourselves to others. The trouble is, when our identity, belonging and purpose are based on what we do, we will always struggle, be insecure, and failure is just waiting to happen. But when our identity, belonging and purpose is found in God, whose love never fails, we will have inner and eternal peace.
