You Are My Witnesses – Week 3: Words With Friends
In this world we have titles like nurse, teacher, mechanic, mother, father, etc. But Jesus reminds us that as members of his family we all share just one title: witnesses.
Scriptures: First Lesson: Acts 1:1-11; Second Lesson: Ephesians 1:16-23; Gospel Lesson: Luke 24:44-53
Sermon Text: Luke 24:44-53
My Next Steps
Thought to Ponder: You might have expected Jesus’ disciples to be heartbroken when he left them and ascended into heaven. But they weren’t! The Bible simply says that the disciples worshiped Jesus and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. How could they do that? Because Jesus was still with them—he was ruling over them from his position of power in heaven. Jesus prom ised to be with them always, and he promises you the very same thing.
Treasure to Share: “You are witnesses of these things.” – Luke 24:48
Action to Take: A witness does not only see things happen and know about them—a witness testifies. A witness shares what she or he knows. We are all witnesses of all the events of the Bible, including the death and resurrection of Jesus our Savior. Be a witness who spreads the message of Jesus our Savior. You can be a confident witness, because you have the power of God’s words behind you!
