PASTOR’S MESSAGE Hi Friends, I’ve never met someone proud of their prayer life. Even life-long, strong Christians struggle with prayer. Why is that? For one, we sometimes need help figuring out what to pray for. Even Jesus’ disciples asked him to teach them how to pray (See Luke 11:1-4). Another reason is we don’t believe our prayers will matter. We might think, “God is all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-loving. He will do what is best anyways. So why should I pray?” Or maybe…

PASTOR’S MESSAGE Hi Friends, Who is in first place? If you take a peek at the NFL standings, currently the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles are tied for first place in the NFC. If you look at the NBA Eastern standings, the Milwaukee Bucks are in first place! If you look at the Big Ten football standings, Michigan and Ohio State are tied for the first place in the East. PASTOR’S MESSAGE Hi Friends, We all have said things we wish we could take back. But unfortunately, words are like toothpaste squeezed out of a tube; once they come out of your mouth, you can’t put them back in. In other words, we can’t take back what we have said. Our comments have already made their impact, and there is nothing we can do about it. That’s why we need to hear what God’s Word will say to us this…

PASTOR’S MESSAGE Hi Friends, “Don’t judge a book by its cover” is good advice. It’s unwise to judge a person by their outward appearance. Although someone might not look impressive on the outside, you might find that they have an important story to tell. It’s wise to withhold judgment until you have a chance to get to know the person. But what if, even after spending some time with them, you find out they still don’t have much to offer?…

PASTOR’S MESSAGE Hi Friends, I am excited as this weekend we begin our new series, Christmas at the Movies. Watching Christmas movies is part of our yearly traditions. So this year at Victory, we’ll view some of your favorite movies through the lens of the greatest story ever told: God sending our Savior to earth on the first Christmas. Data from Barna’s recent study, Gen Z Volume 2, show that, in describing their experience with various emotions, 44% of 13–21-year-olds reported feeling…

MESSAGE OF ENCOURAGEMENT Hi Friends, Has your Christmas countdown began? Maybe you don’t start your Advent calendars until December 1, but my guess is that you’ve got the number of days – and all of the things you have to get done in those days – weighing heavily on your minds. But when we consider why we celebrate Christmas, we can all find joy and hope. Jeremiah tells us this promise of God: ‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord,…

PASTOR’S MESSAGE Hi Friends, Some of have left the Christian Church because they heard that Christianity hinders scientific progress. But Scripture shows that Jesus loved the natural world and taught us to investigate it so that we might know the Creator even better. When we look at Jesus’ words, we will be encouraged to study science, and discover how the world works. Did you know that many leading scientists of today are Christians? Francis S. Collins, a physician and the…

PASTOR’S MESSAGE Hi Friends, How could a loving God send people to hell? That is a challenging question in our current culture. To most people (even strong Christians), God’s final judgment seems too extreme. In fact, there are a number of people who have left the Christian faith because they no longer believe in what they call “eternal conscious torment” (ECT). But has the rejection of hell helped our society? Has it made us more loving and less judgmental? I…

PASTOR’S MESSAGE Hi Friends, This past year, you and I have spent a lot of time waiting and hoping. You have waited in lines at grocery stores and you have waited for lifted restrictions. You are waiting for a vaccine, or perhaps change in relationship status or financial standing. Maybe you are waiting for a diagnosis. We have been waiting in the dark for most of the year. The Sunday, we are beginning our Christmas series, “Light in the Darkness.”…

As I scanned social media and talked with family and friends, I heard a number of comments about how people wished they were with their extended families but they were also glad that were able to keep their…
