Pontius Pilate and Jesus Christ had two very different ways of doing things, yet they both stood together in the same room. What does this mean regarding the way to achieve success—from the world’s perspective? From God’s perspective?
If you’ve ever struggled with making good decisions in life or you’ve ever wondered how to make God pleasing decisions with integrity, join me tomorrow at Showtime Cinema at 9:09 am as we continue our series People of the Passion. There’s a lot we can learn from the contrast between Pontius Pilate—the one asking questions, and Jesus Christ—the Answer to all our questions!
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us” (Romans 8:37).
Kayla’s Krew News—Well this has been quite a week. Actually the last couple weeks have been some of the fullest, most emotionally challenging weeks of my ministry here in Franklin—and not just for me but for many of our friends and neighbors too. Yet God is good! I’m completely at peace in freeing our friends from Kayla’s Krew to pursue another park site even though it would’ve of course been very special to me to see our partnership come to fruition on our site at Loomis Rd. But that’s ok. It’s never been about us. Our whole relationship with them has been about being a blessing to our community.
And I’m praying for our friends from Kayla’s Krew now too in what has turned out to be a very trying week for them after the common council meeting on Tuesday evening when things didn’t go as they had hoped. For that matter I’m praying also for our whole community including our elected officials and neighborhood residents that the building of Kayla’s Playground ultimately brings people together and Kayla’s story overcomes any differences of personal opinions or politics.
Right now though too I’m really thankful I’ve got a sermon ready to start learning for tomorrow. And I’m so looking forward to worshiping with you all tomorrow and sharing the gospel of Christ’s victory with you again!
For a quick recap of the events of this past week, here’s a nice balanced blog post from our Kayla’s Krew friends on their website. Many of you I’m sure have also seen information online about the Mayor’s veto of the common council’s decision Tuesday evening. You can read about what Kayla’s Krew is encouraging their supporters to do regarding a special meeting coming up this Monday on their Facebook page.
On my personal Facebook page today this is what I had to say about it: “So proud of our friends from Kayla’s Krew. They have always been open and honest with us from the beginning and stayed true to their mission with integrity, compassion, and kindness. No matter what I’ll be so happy for them when Kayla’s Playground gets built and I can’t wait to take my family there to play! I encourage all my Franklin friends to read this blog post as it does a fine job of helping to clear up some of the miscommunication floating around out there. And it’s a great example of the kind of relentlessly positive people who make up Kayla’s Krew. God bless our friends! And I pray that the end result of all this is that people in our community are brought together to celebrate a dream come true in honor of a special little girl named Kayla.”
Ministry Center Plans—While this week has been challenging with its surprises due to the turn of events involving Kayla’s Krew and the City, yet at the same time we’re still moving forward in faith with our ministry center building project as we always have. Thursday morning we met as a team at Catalyst Construction’s office Downtown at 7 am to pour over construction documents, our site plan, and the bids that we have received so far. The good news is that our church’s ministry center project will go forward! The Builders for Christ will be coming this summer! At the same time though there are some stewardship decisions and site plan tweaks that we are currently working on as a result of all that’s happened. Please continue to keep our mission in your prayers as we work towards ground breaking, God-willing, about this time next month. Stay tuned!
