PASTOR’S MESSAGE

Hi Friends,

This past week, I picked up some trash outside of church by the highway. There was a white packing strap out there about a half inch wide and about fifteen feet long. Some of the trash was light, some was a little heavy, and some was smelly. I needed to wash my hands when I got back inside.

Like the trash I picked up, the trash talk of negativity and criticism dirty the landscape of our hearts every day. Likely, you will hear or read your fair share of trash talk today. Some of the trash talk will be directed toward you, and some will be directed toward others, but if you read it or hear it, it will touch your soul.

And if we are not careful, the trash talk will come from our mouths: Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be (James 3:10).

This weekend we are continuing our series Top Ten Ways to Live a Better Life. We will look at the 8th Commandment: You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. Instead of trash talking about our neighbor we will see that we can honor others by defending them, speaking well of them, and taking their words and actions in the kindest possible way. And when we do that, we will look and act like Jesus!

You’re invited to worship this weekend on Sunday at 9:00 & 10:30am. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.

Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,

Pastor Bill

THIS WEEKEND – TOP TEN

ICYMI – Pastor Ben guided us to understand the Seventh Commandment. To show love to others and God, we can serve in our communities to make improvements and protect those who live there. You can click here to read and watch this message.

Coming Up This Weekend – Pastor Bill continues guiding us through Commandments with a message about honesty. We share Jesus with others when we defend them and speak well of them in our communities. Easter Egg Hunt – Please keep Victory in your prayers for tomorrow’s Easter Egg Hunt. We’re expecting over 300 people to attend, and many of these families are new to Victory. Thank you to everyone who donated and volunteered to make this event possible!

Chair Removal & Reset – We’re asking for anyone who is able to stay after the 10:30am worship service to help move all chairs out of the worship space into the lobby to prepare for a carpet cleaning. And, please consider coming back on Monday, April 4 at 6:30pm to help reset the chairs.

Staffing Update – This week, Sammi Goodger accepted the call extended to her by St. John’s Milwaukee to be an upper grade teacher. She will remain on staff at Victory into July to help transition a new staff member into the Communications role. She and her family are thankful for the prayers and kind words they received as she deliberated this call. They are also grateful for the opportunity to remain at Victory as members and active volunteers.
