Grief is an unavoidable part of this fallen world. Either we are in the middle of grieving, we have just finished grieving, or we are about to grieve. I know that sounds depressing and hopeless. But that is the reality. As Jesus said, “In this world, you will have trouble…” But that’s not all he said. He continued, “But take heart! I have overcome the world!” (John 16:33).
That is the good news of Jesus’ resurrection. We can look all the sad, depressing, and hard events in the face and not lose hope. Yes, Jesus died. But take heart! He came back from death. He lives, defeating death and all that death touches.
So instead of getting stuck in our grief and despair, we can move through it with hope. The resurrected Jesus has gone ahead of us through the valley of the shadow of death. And he will return to this world to resurrect us and all things.
All that is lost will be found. All that is broken will be mended. All our grief will turn to joy.

CURRENT SERIES – HOPE IN THE DARKNESS
ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Bill kicked off our new series with a message about finding hope after failure. You’ve never messed up too much to come back to Jesus. You can click here to read and watch this message.
Coming Up This Weekend – Pastor Ben continues the series with a message about grief. Even when you’re in the depths of despair, when you feel like the grief of the last year overwhelms you… Jesus is with you, bringing you hope in your grief because he lives. Join us for worship on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at the Ministry Center, on our live stream site, or our YouTube channel.
Better Than Heaven – On Tuesday nights, April 20-May 11, Pastor Ben will teach a class called Better Than Heaven. Through this course, he will guide you through what the Bible actually says about Heaven and the afterlife. That way, you can see how God’s promise of resurrection and new creation becomes the grand narrative that guides our lives and gives us purpose. You can learn more about this course and register at votl.life/heaven.
Board Game Drive – Now through April 25, you can bring new or gently used board games to Victory to donate to Franklin Public Schools. The games will be used by children in the Kids’ Club program. This program takes place before school, after school, and during the summer. Please make sure any used games contain all pieces. Thank you for supporting our community!
Virtual Victory Kids – Every Sunday, we’ll be sending out weekly virtual content for Victory Kids! You can sign up to receive a weekly email on Sunday mornings with videos, lessons, and activities for your kids to do at home. Go to votl.life/victory-kids to subscribe to the mailing list.
Mulch Party – Save the date to help put out mulch at the Ministry Center at 1:00pm on Sunday, April 25. Bring gardening gloves and shovels, and stay as you are able to help spruce up the Ministry Center. Thanks in advance for your help!
