Victory News – April 19, 2019

Dear Friends,

Tough love is hard. It is hard to keeps its promises. Just ask any parent how easy it is to cave. But God is the perfect parent with perfect love, and so he keeps his promises perfectly.

(John 19: 34) Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water. The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe. These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken,” In an effort to be thorough (and perhaps a little sadistic) the rough and tumble soldier made sure Jesus was dead by piercing a spear through Jesus’ side. In doing so, he pierced the pericardial sac, releasing a flow of blood and water.  And so, in the action of one of the pagan soldiers, the promises of God are kept. He protects all of his bones, not one of them will be broken (Psalm 34:20).

This isn’t a case of “close but not quite”. It is a promise kept. This is key because if Jesus doesn’t fulfill God’s promises, God is a liar and he is not our Savior. Through Jesus’ sacrifice we have full forgiveness, not just for most sins but ALL sins.  We have God’s promise on it. And nothing can keep God from keeping all of his promises not even death.

See you for Good Friday worship at 6:30pm and on Easter Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am, in person or online.

Sharing Christ’s Love and Victory,

Pastor Bill

ICYMI – Last Sunday, Pastor Bill shared a message about worship. We’re always worshiping something. Because of his faithfulness, power, and love, God is the only One we can worship without shame. Click here to view or read last Sunday’s message.

Coming Up This Friday – Tonight , Pastor Bill will share a message about the ultimate debt that has been paid for us. Although Jesus was perfect, he suffered death for your sins. You could never sacrifice enough to pay for your sins, but Jesus paid the debt in your place.  Join us tonight at 6:30pm at church or online.

Coming Up This Sunday – This week, Pastor Bill will share a message about how the Resurrection impacts us now and for eternity. When we forget about the Resurrection, we’re right there with the Disciples – lost, hopeless, wandering. But Jesus is alive. And that changes everything. Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at church or online.

Easter at Victory – An invite to church is an invite to God. So, who have you invited to Easter at Victory?
