Victory News – April 22, 2022

Hi Friends,

How was your Easter?

For most of us, when we woke up early on Easter Sunday morning, our Easter was a lot different than that first Easter Sunday morning for the followers of Jesus.

When the followers of Jesus woke up on Easter morning, thoughts of the Victory Café, ham, potatoes, rolls, brunch, Easter Egg hunts, chocolate bunnies, and family gatherings never crossed their minds.

Their early morning Easter experience was ALL about grief. In their grief, the disciples forgot Jesus told them he would conquer death. And so when they woke up on Easter morning, there were tears of sadness instead of tears of joy. There were shouts of anguish instead of shouts of praise. There was emptiness instead of fullness. They were lost in grief over the death of their loved one, Jesus.

We experience grief when we lose someone or something that is near and dear to us. Have you ever experienced grief? Are you experiencing grief right now?

This weekend we begin a new series, Emotions: Dealing with Feelings. And we are going to get really honest about grief and God. I think God will use this message to support, help, and encourage us all!

You’re invited to join us for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.

Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,

Pastor Bill

ICYMI – During Holy Week, our pastors shared three different messages to help us understand how Christ makes all things new.  You can read and watch Pastor Bivens’ Maundy Thursday message about the New Covenant we have through Christ by clicking here. Pastor Bill’s Good Friday message explained why Christ’s sacrifice on the cross gave us a new relationship with God; click here to read and watch. And, Pastor Ben’s Easter message (click here to read and watch) celebrated the new life we have in Christ.

Coming Up This Weekend – Pastor Bill kicks off our new series Emotions: Dealing with Feelings with a message about grief. Even at the deepest stages of grief, God is with us. You can join in all of these these services at Victory, on our live stream site, or our YouTube channel.
