Victory News – April 8, 2022

Hi Friends,

Happy Holy Week! This week, we are celebrating the most important events in the history of the world. This is the week that Jesus marched into Jerusalem, broke bread with his disciples, broke down the divide between heaven and earth, and broke free of mortality. This week is the climax of all human history. It is the undoing of all that has gone wrong. It is the defeat of death.

You wouldn’t know all this just by looking around. For one, the stores have not reminded us of this celebration like they do for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, or even Halloween. Nor does our world seem to show signs of God’s saving act. There are still wars and rumors of war, plagues, pandemics, shame, and guilt.

But that is why we need to gather to celebrate Holy Week. Something extraordinary did happen 2,000 years ago. Jesus did die and he did come back to life. His message of hope and healing has touched our hearts. And some parts of his creation have already started to become new. And now, we live, work, and wait in joyful anticipation of his coming again when the Lord of lords will finish the job, resurrecting all things.

So, let us all join together as a family of believers to celebrate the victory that is ours in Jesus Christ.

You’re invited to worship this weekend on Sunday at 9:00 & 10:30am. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.

Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,

Pastor Ben

ICYMI – Pastor Bill continued guiding us through Commandments with a message about honesty. We share Jesus with others when we defend them and speak well of them in our communities. You can click here to read and watch this message.

Coming Up This Weekend – Pastor Ben will finish up the series with a message about contentment. When we’re content with what we have, we don’t find ourselves longing for what we don’t have. You can join in these services on Sunday at 9:00 & 10:30am at Victory, on our live stream site, or our YouTube channel.

Easter at Victory – We’re excited to celebrate the new life we have in Jesus during our Easter at Victory worship services on April 16 at 5:00pm or April 17 at 9:00 or 10:30am. Victory Kids will be offered at the Sunday 9:00am service. Please consider inviting friends and family by using invite cards available at the Ministry Center or through sharing social media posts. One request from the staff: We are anticipating a LARGE crowd for Easter at Victory particularly at the 9:00am service. If you’ve got some flexibility in your holiday planning, we encourage our members and regular attenders to attend the Saturday 5:00pm service OR the Sunday 10:30am service.

Sponsor a Student for the Youth Rally – Victory is excited to be sending almost a dozen teens to the WELS International Youth Rally in Knoxville, TN this summer! This opportunity costs $375 per person. We’re encouraging you to consider making a donation to defer the cost for any teens who might be prevented from attending due to cost. Please click here to learn more and make a donation.

Franklin Bike Rodeo – Victory has the opportunity to support our community by sending volunteers to help with the Franklin Bike Rodeo on June 4 at the Franklin City Hall. This is an all-morning commitment; lunch is provided. To learn how you can get involved and access the sign-up form, click here.

Holy Week Worship – Next week, in addition to our Easter at Victory services, we will offer worship on Maundy Thursday at 6:30pm (includes Holy Communion) and Good Friday at 6:30pm. These services will be offered at the Ministry Center and online via live stream.

Tuition Assistance – Applications for Tuition Assistance for the 2022-2023 school year are now being accepted. This fund is intended to support families who opt for Christian education and send their children to area WELS schools. To learn more, read the guidelines, and download an application, click here. Applications are due by May 15, 2022.

SAVE THE DATE: Community Concert – Mark your calendar for this year’s Community Concert with the Playlist. We’ll be hosting this great event with music, food trucks, and fun on Saturday, July 16 from 5:00-9:00pm.  More details and volunteer opportunities coming in May.
