This past Monday, the Baylor’s men basketball team won the NCAA Tournament Championship, denying an undefeated season and national championship for Gonzaga.
Back in 1993, Chris Webber rebounded a missed free throw in Michigan’s national championship game versus North Carolina. With just under 20 seconds left and down by two, Webber hastily dribbled the ball down court. Failing to realize his team had no timeouts left, he called a timeout. Michigan was assessed a technical foul and lost the opportunity to win the game in the final seconds.
Did you ever make a mistake? Or, more bluntly, have you ever failed? Maybe it was a F on a paper in school, or missing the game-winning or shot, or failing in a relationship, or making a bad investment after you were warned not to get involved.
This weekend, we will begin a new series called Hope in the Darkness. Our first message will be about finding hope when you sit in the darkness of failure. I can’t wait to share the good news that there is hope even after failure.
Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,
CURRENT SERIES – HOPE IN THE DARKNESS
ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Bill and Pastor Ben shared some inspiring messages about who Jesus is and why we have reason to celebrate Easter every week. You can click here to read and watch the Good Friday message or click here for the Easter at Victory message.
Coming Up This Weekend – Pastor Bill kicks off our new series with a message about finding hope after failure. You’ve never messed up too much to come back to Jesus. Join us for worship on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at the Ministry Center, on our live stream site, or our YouTube channel.
Better Than Heaven – On Tuesday nights, April 20-May 11, Pastor Ben will teach a class called Better Than Heaven. Through this course, he will guide you through what the Bible actually says about Heaven and the afterlife. That way, you can see how God’s promise of resurrection and new creation becomes the grand narrative that guides our lives and gives us purpose. You can learn more about this course and register at votl.life/heaven.
Board Game Drive – Starting this weekend through April 25, you can bring new or gently used board games to Victory to donate to Franklin Public Schools. The games will be used by children in the Kids’ Club program. This program takes place before school, after school, and during the summer. Please make sure any used games contain all pieces. Thank you for supporting our community!
Virtual Victory Kids – Starting April 11, we’ll be sending out weekly virtual content for Victory Kids! You can sign up to receive a weekly email on Sunday mornings with videos, lessons, and activities for your kids to do at home. Go to votl.life/victory-kids to subscribe to the mailing list.
Phones Down at Victory – Due to some technical issues, our phone system at Victory is currently not operational. To get a hold of a staff member, you can leave a message on the church voice mail, call one of the pastors directly, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. We’re working to get this fixed as quickly as possible.
Holy Week at Victory – We’re happy to announce that over 1,300 people worshiped with Victory over the course of the five services and four restreamed services during Holy Week. This includes several guests who joined worship for the first time at Victory. Thank you for inviting your friends and family, as well as your ongoing generosity which supports marketing efforts for Victory.
