What do you do when you sin?
Most people try to cover sin up. They hope nobody will notice and so they pretend it doesn’t exist. People attempt to cover up their sin by…
- Denying they sinned. I didn’t do it.
- Rationalizing their sin. Everybody is doing it. It is not that bad. No one will get hurt. (That is a really big lie, by the way.)
- Blaming someone else or the circumstance. He did it. It just happened.
- Gas lighting. If you would just see what you are doing. It would all make sense to you. Quit being so blind. You are the one at fault, not me.
- Doing another wrong thing. You have heard the expression “one thing leads to another.”
- Doing something good to try and compensate for their sin.
To cover up sin only makes sense. We know sin is wrong. What doesn’t make sense is trying to cover up sin without Jesus.
When we sin, we need to admit that God is right and we were wrong. And then we will receive what Jesus did for us on the cross – forgiveness. Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered (Psalm 32:1).
Hope to see you for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am, at Victory or online. Feel free to invite a family member or friend to join you. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.
