Can I be honest? Weekend worship is bittersweet for me. I remember a few months ago when we entered church to the smell of fresh egg-bake and hot coffee. I remember how the worship space was filled with people singing to their God. And our biggest problem was our overcrowded parking lot. I remember how Sunday morning seemed to be my one-stop-shop that met my physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. And it all happened in about one hour!
Don’t get me wrong. Worship is still life-giving, even when we are meeting online or in-person with masks and socially distant. But that one hour on the weekend doesn’t seem to be what it used to. But then again…maybe weekend worship wasn’t ever supposed to meet all my needs.
You see, there are 168 hours in a week. And for most of those hours, we are being discipled by the news, the media, social media, and Hollywood. Be honest. How often are they leading you closer to Jesus, the truth of his Word, and the glory of God? One hour a week in worship, no matter how good, isn’t enough to keep you “abiding in Christ” (John 15:5).
That’s why your brothers and sisters at Victory are working hard to help you engage your faith for all 168 hours of the week.

The Bible says when we meditate day and night on the Scriptures, we are like trees planted by a stream of water (Psalm 1). It also says that when we work hard to mature in our faith, we will not be tossed about by every wind of the world’s teaching (Ephesians 4:11-16). You see, being a Christian is not a one-hour-a-week event, but a 24/7 walk with Jesus.
I look forward to worshiping with you for an hour this weekend in person or online this Saturday at 5:00pm or Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am. But I’m even more excited about interacting and growing with you during the other 167 hours of the week.
Sharing Christ’s victory,

Crash the Chatterbox Book Study – At one point or another, we all find ourselves listening to our internal “chatterboxes”. These negative voices in our heads lead us down paths of insecurity, fear, condemnation, and discouragement. But worse, they lead us away from Jesus. There are still a few spots left for the study at noon on Thursdays. Book provided, but space is limited. Click here to register for the book study by August 25. (NOTE: This filled up quickly, and we are SO excited! If you are interested but cannot attend this round, please let Pastor Bill know and we’ll alert you when we offer another round.)
