Victory News – August 20, 2021

Hi Friends,

I’m not sure what your parenting experience is but parenting is a piece of cake . . . until you become a parent.

When I wasn’t a parent, I knew all the answers. But then, I became a parent.

Parenting is tough work. When we parent, we can be too stern and we can be too hands-off. On top of that, each child is different and so we need to adjust how we parent each of our children.

A key role in parenting is teaching them right from wrong in the teachable moments in life. This is how Deuteronomy 6:6-9 says that: These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

A role in parenting is to teach (discipline) our children right from wrong and sharing Jesus with our children. God isn’t going to hold us responsible for our children’s actions, but he does hold us responsible for what we teach them.

As we continue our series, David, the (im)Perfect King, Pastor Frosty Bivens is going to have a fantastic message about King David and his son, Absalom. I can’t wait for you to hear the good news of Jesus Christ.

Hope to see you for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am, at the Ministry Center or online.  Feel free to invite a family member or friend to join you. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.

Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,

Pastor Bill

CURRENT SERIES – David: The (im)Perfect King

ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Bill helps us examine what God thinks about sin. God uses Christian people in our lives to help us recognize our sin and repent. God desires mercy, not sacrifice. You can click here to read and watch this message.

Coming Up This Weekend – We welcome guest preacher Pastor Forrest (Frosty) Bivens to help us understand what God expects from parents. God doesn’t hold parents responsible for their children’s actions, but he does hold them responsible for what they teach their children. Join us for worship on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at Victory on our live stream site or our YouTube channel.

Mentoring at Victory – Having a mentor is an essential part of life. A Christian mentor is someone to trains, leads, and guides you through life’s transitions, praying for you and helping you grow in faith along the way. Men’s and Women’s Mentoring kick off this weekend!  Learn more about mentoring, see what participants are saying about the program, and register for the vision casting meetings by clicking here.

Classic Car Show –  Victory will host a Classic Car Show, a free family-friendly event for the community, on Saturday, August 28 from 10:00am-1:00pm. We’ll have free food, classic cars, and fun for the whole family. You can click here to get involved with the car show by registering your classic car and volunteering at the event. THANK YOU to all who have signed up to donate items.

Call Update – This week, Pastor Bill received a call to be a pastor at St. Matthew’s in Benton Harbor, MI. Please pray for Pastor Bill and his family as he deliberates his calls to St. Matthew’s and Victory of the Lamb.

Community Concert – THANK YOU to all of you who volunteered at and attended last weekend’s Community Concert. Approximately 330 people attended the concert, and several were new families who were invited by you! Thank you for your support and dedication to Victory’s mission of reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory.
