One child gets in trouble and blames his sibling. Maybe it goes something like, “He hit me first.”
Blaming someone else or excusing ourselves is a common character trait of sinful people. It started with Adam and Eve. Adam blamed Eve and God in one sentence. “It was the woman you gave me,” he said to God.
And it is still the same today. Often our reaction to sin is to blame someone else or excuse ourselves or both.
This weekend we are going to look at David’s confession is Psalm 51 and see that he didn’t blame anyone else but himself. He made no excuses for his sin. He accepted full responsibility.
And you know what he found after such an honest confession . . . a loving and forgiving God. And that loving and forgiving God made all the difference in his life . . . just as he does in ours.
Sharing Christ’s Victory,
CURRENT SERIES: Summer Playlist
ICYMI – Pastor Ben continued the series with a message about Psalm 23. One of the top hits in the Psalms playlist, Psalm 23 is well-known especially at funerals or as pieces of artwork. Our Good Shepherd walks with us through thick and thin. As we grow up we don’t want to lose our childlike faith. We are sheep and Jesus is our good shepherd. We are mere servants and Jesus is the king. One day the king will return and on that day we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. To read and watch the message, click here.
Coming Up This Weekend – Pastor Bill continues the series with a message about Psalm 51. For any of us who have ever found ourselves guilty of a sin (so, everyone), this psalm hits hard. The Psalmist David wrote this song after the prophet Nathan helped him recognize his sinful ways. All of us from learn about confession from this psalm, as we read how David cries out to God in repentance, knowing he is forgiven and saved from his sins. You can join in on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at Victory, on our live stream site, or our YouTube channel.
