Victory News – August 9, 2019

Dear Friends,

A funny thing happened while we were in Door County.  We were at a restaurant and they said it would be about a 30 minute wait. But about 10 minutes into our wait, our pager went off.  They asked us if we minded sharing a table. “No, that’s cool.” And so, we set down by and enjoyed a meal together with another family made up of four generations.

A funny thing happened at State Fair. We sat down to eat at a table and another couple came by and asked, “Do you mind if we sit here?” And we chatted forever.

While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. (Mark 2:15)

Is there room at your table for people of all backgrounds and ages to sit? I hope you have a life filled with “funny things” like people joining you at your table!

Join us for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am in person or online.

Sharing Christ’s love and victory,

Pastor Bill

ICYMI – Last Sunday, Pastor Ben wrapped up the Promises, Promises series with a message about God making all things new. God’s promises of peace and forgiveness get us through life, and Heaven is the ultimate fulfillment of God’s promises for us through Jesus. Click here to view or read last Sunday’s message.

Coming Up This Sunday – This weekend, we’ll have a mission pastor joining us to share about his work. Most importantly, he’ll explain how everyone is welcome at the table of God. Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at church or online. NOTE: This week’s message will not be available on the message archives due to security reasons. Pastor Ben and Pastor Bill will provide a message recap video in the archives in place of this weekend’s message.

We’re Hiring! – Victory is currently looking to fill two positions: Office Manager and Financial Manager. Both positions are 10-15 hours per week and can be combined for qualified applicants. Click here for the Office Manager position description, and click here for the Financial Manager position description. Interested applicants should email a cover letter and resume to Jeff Guenther, Leadership Team President, by August 18. Interviews will occur the week of August 18.

Door Offering – This weekend, in honor of our guest preacher, we’ll be collecting a door offering to support missions work being done across the world by our church body, the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). We will collect this offering on the way out of each service. Thank you for your prayerful consideration of financially supporting WELS mission work.

Men’s Mentoring Group – Men: have you ever struggled to have it all? It can get overwhelming to try to build a relationship with your family, have a successful career, find your place at church, and strengthen your faith in Jesus… all at the same time. That’s why Pastor Ben is starting a Men’s Mentoring Group. The informational session for this group is on Sunday, August 18. No obligation to participate, but RSVP is required. Click here to learn more and RSVP.

Grace and Purpose Book Study – Join Pastor Ben for a two-night study on his new book, God’s Grace and Your Purpose, happening on August 21 and 28. The study will meet from 6:30-8:00pm each night at the Ministry Center. For more information on the book study, click here. You can get a copy of his book through a donation to Time of Grace, or you can get a free copy from Victory next Sunday, August 18.

Installation for Pastor Geoff Rue (East Troy) – You are invited to attend the Installation Service of Pastor Geoff Rue at St. Paul’s in East Troy on August 11 at 2:00pm. The congregation will provide a meal after the service. Any questions? Contact Pastor Micah Martin.

Blood Drive Results – On July 31, Victory partnered with Versiti (formerly Blood Center of Wisconsin) to host a blood drive. We had 41 people come to the drive to donate. 33 of these were able to donated blood, including six first-time donors. Additionally, about a dozen Victory volunteers donated their time to support the donors through childcare, snack donation and serving, and clean-up. Thank you for saving lives in our community! Mark your calendars for our next drive, happening on Wednesday, September 25. You can make your appointment now by clicking here.
