Victory News – Colossians Continues

Thank you 2nd and 4th graders from St Jacobi. Great job singing to the glory of God!

One of the joys in working through a book of the Bible is that we get an opportunity to unpack some of the deep truths of the faith as we encounter them. That’s what we’ll be doing this Sunday as we continue our Profile series and camp out for a while in Colossians 2:6-15.

What are we going to learn?

Everything that Jesus has accomplished has become yours through your baptism!

Sound too good to be true? Join us this Sunday as we continue our study of Colossians with the theme Profile Complete.

Pastor’s Conference – Monday I spent the day at St. Paul’s in East Troy attending our pastors’ conference with about 25 other pastors from churches in my conference—which, by the way, is called the Western Lakes Conference. As the Program Committee Chairman it’s my responsibility to plan the agenda for these conferences which we have twice a year. We began the morning with a worship service and holy communion. The rest of the day we learned from Prof. Rich Gurgel from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary who was our guest presenter. He led us in three sessions on how to be better preachers.

Preaching in a Postmodern World – Speaking of trying to become a better preacher, I’m currently also taking an online class through the Seminary on preaching. It’s my first online class and that’s taking some getting used to. But I’m really getting a lot out of it and I’m eager to keep sharing God’s Word.

Building Plans – Thanks for attending our get-together at Gus’ last Friday night if you got the chance. Attendance was great. We had about 50 people. It was a terrific setting to mingle and with our architects and I think we got a lot accomplished. A special thanks to an anonymous donor from our church who generously covered the costs of the food so that we could be together and everyone’s voice could be heard!

An Evening at Gus’ with our architects from Korb Tredo

Time and Talents – I’m thankful to Matt Burow of Catalyst Construction and Mark Pamperin from the Builders For Christ for taking the time to be with us last Sunday. In case you weren’t there, Matt asked people to contact him if you have labor and skills that you would like to donate to our project or you’d like your company to be part of the competitive bidding process.

Bible 101Bible 101 is the starting point in our church for anyone who would like to learn more about God, anyone who wants to see for themselves what the Bible says, or anyone who would like to receive the sacrament of holy communion in our fellowship. It’s also a great refresher for anyone who’d like to review the Bible’s basic teachings. Contact me for more info on how to get connected when we start a new group.

Last Sunday’s sermon can be found here on our website. Also remember that all our sermon resources are archived on our sermon page.
