PASTOR’S MESSAGE

Hi Friends,

There have always been people who think they are better than everyone else. Some feel they are better than everyone else because of their position in the company, because they have a lot of money, or because they belong to a certain religious group. Some feel a sense of sense of moral superiority, like the Pharisee who prayed in Luke 18:11, ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector.’

As Christians, we would hope that this elitism would not infect us, but too often it has. In fact, from the world perspective, Christians are some of the most judgmental people around.

This weekend as we continue our Detox series, we are going to see what life looks like when you do a “discrimination detox” and how we can live that way all the time. Here is a hint from Luke 18:13: But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

Hope to see you for worship this weekend on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.

Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,

Pastor Bill

CURRENT SERIES – DETOX

ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Ben kicked off the new series with a message about temptation. It’s easy to slide from temptation into sin, but you can resist with the help of God.  Click here to read or watch this message.

Coming Up This Weekend –  Pastor Bill continues the series with a message about labels. The world may have taught us to look at and treat people a certain way based on their appearance or social status, but God teaches us to treat all people with mercy, loving all our neighbors as ourselves. Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am. You can join in these services at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.
