Victory News – January 19, 2018

Dear friends,

Frozen in time. This past week the South received a heavy dose of snow and cold. Schools were closed. Flights were cancelled. Businesses were closed. Roads were shut down. They were at a standstill.

Do you sometimes feel your life is at a standstill? I want to encourage you that when you feel life is going nowhere, you are right where God wants you to be. You may be at a standstill because someone else needs to catch up. Maybe you are at a standstill so that you can get the energy or insight that you will need for what is coming up next. Maybe you are at a standstill so you can reflect on who God is and what he has done, is doing, and will do. I don’t know all the answers but God does. And God is working in and through every circumstance in your life to bring you closer to him. Romans 8:28 – “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Labels – Chances are you are carrying around some pretty heavy duty and hurtful labels. If you are, I want to encourage you to check out Pastor Ben’s sermon last week on our identity in Christ.

Ever want to be M.A.D.? If so, I have a sermon just for you this Sunday. Service times are 8:30 and 10:15 am. Or you can watch online.

Open Forum – Our Leadership Team will host an Open Forum, Wednesday, January 24, at 7pm. At this open forum, we will consider our congregation’s vision and the gifts we would like our new pastor to have. I hope to see you there!

Celebration of Ministry –We will be having a celebration of ministry for Pastor Ben and Sarah on Feb 11 from 2-4pm, with a short program at 3pm.  The celebration will include hors d’oeuvres, sweet treats, memories and a time to reminisce. We will be collecting donations for a ministry appreciation gift for Pastor Ben, Sarah and girls.  You can drop off cards and donations in the box in the lobby on Sunday mornings or mail them to VOTL, c/o Ministry Celebration, 11120 W Loomis Road, Franklin, WI 53132. If you are interested in helping prepare for the Celebration or donating food items, please see your email or contact Cassy Robbert, VOTL Events Coordinator, at cassyrobbert@gmail.com.

More Than Bricks – This is such a wonderful blessing from God. I don’t think you will believe it unless you read it. Check out the More Than Bricks final report.

Bible 101 “Plus” – This new format class is the first step at our church for anyone who has questions about God or wants to learn what we believe. It also prepares you to receive Communion by studying the foundational teachings of the Christian faith. The teaching combines elements from the former Bible 101 and 201 classes. The group will meet at Victory of the Lamb ministry center on seven Wednesday evenings starting January 31st from 6:30-8pm. Please note the class is starting one week later than originally planned. There will be no class on February 14thRegister here

St Paul’s Franklin School Open House – St. Paul’s Lutheran School has been an educational tradition in Franklin for 150 years. They have an open house on Sunday, January 28th from 11:30am until 2pm. Come and see why their families love being a part of that school, grab a snack (a light lunch is provided), meet the teachers, see the classrooms, and learn about the great education available to students from 3k up to 8th grade. If the 28th doesn’t work for your schedule, call and set up a different time to visit (414-421-1930).

Sharing Christ’s Victory!
