Usually, crises bring people together. But not in 2020. Everything that we have experienced this year seems to have divided us, driven us further apart. The pandemic has caused us to be divided. Masks vs. No-masks. Open businesses and schools vs. close them. Black lives matter vs. blue lives matter. Republican vs. Democrat.
All this division makes the devil laugh because he loves division. He loves to separate us and isolate us. He wants to make our lives a living hell so that we fall deeper into despair and hopelessness.
The devil divides, but God is in the business of bringing people together. God wants us to be unified in Jesus Christ. In fact, right before he was crucified, Jesus prayed:
My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me (John 17:20-21).
When we come together to worship Jesus and enjoy his grace and favor and further his kingdom, we are an answer to his prayer.
A unified group of believers is the antidote to this world’s division. So, I invite you to join and participate in worship, in person or online this Saturday at 5:00pm or Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am.
Sharing Christ’s victory,
