Hi Friends –
Growing up, I liked the game “tag.” I probably liked “tag” because I was quick and fast. We even had a swimming pool game of tag called “sharks” where people tried to swim across the pool without being tagged. We played it for hours in the hot Texas sun.
Okay, I’ll be honest. I still like the game “tag.”
Other people, and sometimes in our own minds, we tag ourselves with labels like: broken, loser, unlovable, unforgivable. So I want you to know through the Gospel in Word and Sacrament, God has tagged you. He has tagged you forgiven, redeemed, child of God, heir of heaven, and many other wonderful names because of His grace. 1 John 3:1 says, See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be [tagged] children of God! And that is what we are!
I pray you are enjoying a wonderful summer with a lot of relaxation and fun. And remember in God’s eyes, “You’re IT!”
I am going to “tag” a few people and invite them to worship. I encourage you to join in the fun and “tag” someone as well.
Sharing Christ’s Victory,
CURRENT SERIES – UNSHAKEABLE
ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Brian Doebler continued our Unshakeable sermon series with a message about how our faith only grows as God sends us through both good and bad. Click here to view this message.
Coming Up This Sunday – Christians have the best attitude about life and death. Every day is a joy, because we have a purpose – to live for Christ. And when we die? That’s even better by far. Join us to learn about God’s unshakeable promises on Sunday at 8:30 or 10:15am at church or online.
Small Group Leader Training – As part of our “Back to School, Back to Church” initiative in September, we will be launching new small groups. To offer these opportunities, we need to identify and train some leaders. If you are passionate about encouraging others in their faith and building a community of believers, prayerfully consider leading a group. Small Group Leader Training is a 2 session commitment, and sessions will take place on July 26 and August 9 from 6-8pm (childcare provided). Click here to register. This training is open to new and current small group leaders.
Blood Drive – Be a hero! Donate blood to the BloodCenter of Wisconsin at the Ministry Center on August 1 from 3:00-7:30pm. In addition to helping local hospital patients, your donation will also provide a grant to support the Lighthouse Youth Center. Reserve your appointment online, or call BloodCenter at 877-232-4376. Appointments encouraged, and refreshments provided.
Parking Lot – With the second coat of asphalt on the parking lot we added a couple of additional handicap parking spaces. There was a question if this met the code. Here is the Wisconsin State Building Code for your review. We believe we are following this code accurately. If we are not following code, we will joyfully make immediate adjustments.
Summer Bible Study – Habakkuk had some tough questions for God and asked God for some answers. He didn’t like God’s answers at first, but he later learned to love them. We will learn to love God’s answers too as we study the Book of Habakkuk. This series, which starts on Wednesday, July 11 from 6:30-7:30pm, will be led by Prof. Forrest (Frosty) Bivens. No RSVP needed; join us as you are able. Visit our Events page for more information about this Bible study.
Victory of the Lamb Apparel – If you are interested in purchasing Victory of the Lamb shirts, this is your opportunity! Click here to view and purchase shirts. We have t-shirts in youth and adult sizes (designed by Naomi Paper Co.), polo shirts for men and women, and button-up shirts for men. The online store closes on July 26, and all items will be available for pick-up at the Ministry Center approximately 2 weeks after that.
Altar Flowers – Sign-up for Altar Flower sponsorship is now available for August through October. Click here to view available dates and reserve your altar flower sponsorship. The form will look different than if you’ve sponsored in the past; we’ve simplified the form to now include date reservations, payment, and recognition information all in one form. Thank you for beautifying our worship experience every Sunday!
Hearts & Hands Workshop – The Hearts and Hands Workshop is a three-day workshopping event for artists, worship leaders, and pastors seeking to integrate creativity and art into worship settings, specializing on discussions on visual arts, audio arts, technology, and modern rites. Session topics will be led by pastors, artists, and worship leaders, including our own Nancy Thompson. The event is August 6-8 at Wisconsin Lutheran College Center for Arts and Performance.
