Change is inevitable. Things are always changing. Many of us have heard, “If you don’t like the weather in Wisconsin, wait five minutes. It will change.”
Over the last four months so many things have changed. Schools met virtually, a lot of us woke up in the morning already at work. Church became an online-only experience. The financial situation of many people changed drastically as the unemployment rate soared. Last week we were told Milwaukee public and private schools were not allowed to meet; now, at least private schools are if they meet certain guidelines. There is so much change. Sometimes it seems like the ground we are walking on is shaking.
But one thing hasn’t changed: God. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever(Hebrews 13:7). That is so comforting. God is not going to change his mind. His love is described as unfailing. Save me according to your unfailing love (Psalm 109:26). He isn’t going to change the stat line – all of our sins are forgiven. It is finished (John 19:30). The exact translation means “paid for full”. He is never going to leave you nor forsake you. Jesus says, I am with you always (Matthew 28:20). God doesn’t change any of promises either. So this promise is also true: God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).
Because God doesn’t change, we can Rejoice in the Lord always!
I invite you to join and participate in worship, in person or online this Saturday at 5:00pm or Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am.
Sharing Christ’s victory,
