Happy Independence Day Weekend! This Fourth of July is different than any I have experienced. But we are free: free to vote for whomever we choose, free to seek employment from any company, free to worship. Free.
The national freedom you and I have isn’t because a number of people signed a declaration. The freedom that you and I have is because of the courage found on a battlefield. We have freedom because lives were lost.
We are also spiritually free: free from sins (all of them), free from Satan’s grip, free to pray anytime or anywhere, free to live for eternity. This freedom is ours because the love of God. The freedom we have from sin, death, and the devil comes to us through an epic spiritual battle full of twists and turns, deception, deceit, betrayal, denial, beatings, death (that is our part) … but also truth, grace, mercy, love, forgiveness and an empty tomb (that is God’s part). The wages of sin is death. But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. This is good news of great joy!
A lot of times we end the conversation there. But God doesn’t. God not only sets us free FROM things like sin and death; he also sets us free FOR an important purpose. God invites us to join Jesus on his mission of seeking and saving the lost. He tells us there are souls, like ours, that are ready and eager to hear us tell them the message of freedom in Christ.
As we celebrate freedom this weekend be sure to pray for our country and for the saving of souls! God bless America and God bless you!
I invite you to join and participate in worship in person or online this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am.
Sharing Christ’s victory,
