Victory News – July 9, 2021

Hi Friends,

This weekend starts a new sermon series based on the life of David. David is one of the most important characters in the story of our salvation. Even before he was king, David defeated Israel’s great enemy, Goliath. He virtuously stood up to King Saul’s threats. He wrote many of Israel’s most famous prayers in the book of Psalms. And, as king, he funded the building of Solomon’s Temple.

Yet, what the Lord valued most in David was not his accomplishments, but his heart. The Lord said that humans look at what’s on the outside, but the Lord looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). In the same way, the Lord wants us to put a greater value on cultivating a pure heart, both for ourselves and for the leaders that we follow. Our accomplishments will fade like the flowers of the field. What really matters is what goes on in our hearts.

One way to cultivate a new heart is to attend worship with your Victory Family. In worship, we receive the heart-changing message of God’s love in the Word and in the Lord’s Supper. With that in mind, I hope to see you for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am.  Feel free to invite a family member or friend to join you. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.

Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,

Pastor Ben

CURRENT SERIES – David: The (im)Perfect King

ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Bob Johannes shared a message about the intersection between the earthly and Heavenly kingdoms, and what that looks like in how we view our country and faith. You can click here to read and watch this message.

Coming Up This Weekend – Pastor Ben kicks off a new series on King David with a message about God’s wisdom and guidance. Like David, you can have confidence that God knows where you are. Know that God is working in your life, using you to fulfill His good and perfect plan. Join us for worship on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at Victory on our live stream site or our YouTube channel.
