Bright orange, burnt orange, light orange. Red, pink, violet. Navy blue, sky blue, aquamarine. Bright green, sea green, forest green. Brown, tan, yellow. All these colors are tents or umbrellas on the white sandy beaches of Fort Morgan, AL. Under every color there is at least one person, but often a group of people. Each person with a different story, a different past, a different future, a different dream.
As I write this, the sun has slipped behind the clouds and the rain is now landing on the tents, the umbrellas, the sand, and the people.
All of this reminds me that people all over the world have different stories, dreams, pasts, futures. But all people – you and I included – need the “rain shower” of God’s grace.
Do you know anyone who needs a refreshing shower of God’s grace? Is it you? A neighbor? A co-worker? Lamentations 3:23 says about God, “His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your (God’s) faithfulness.”
Do you need grace? Go ahead. Soak it up. Be refreshed. Let the burden of guilt, shame and perfectionism fall off your heart. Be set free. Enjoy. It is God’s gift to you.
Grace will change you. It will mess with your sin-self. It will change the way you look at sin. It will affect you and the way you look at other people with all their differences. Grace will cause you to live in Christ’s victorious joy, even in the midst of pain and sorrow. Grace will turn your heart from self-seeking to God’s love-sharing.
Praying for the people on the beach and for you.
– Pastor Bill
