PASTOR’S MESSAGE

Hi Friends,

This week we continue our Glad You Asked sermon series. In this series we are attempting to use God’s Word to answer the questions that you submitted. One of the most common questions submitted was around the topic of baptism.

That makes sense. For at least the last 500 years, Christians have debated who should be allowed to baptize, and what age someone should be baptized, and how the baptism should be performed, whether through immersion or just sprinkling water over the person’s head.

Maybe you have had this same debate with your Christian friends who follow a different practice of baptism than our church. And maybe you would like an airtight argument to respond to those who want to dispute you. But there is no airtight argument, no Bible verse, no logic that is going to resolve these differing opinions.

So instead, I would like to focus on what we can all agree on when it comes to baptism. Namely, that baptism is a beautiful gift that God’s has given to his church for our eternal comfort. If you want to prepare for this week’s sermon, you could study Peter’s sermon at Pentecost, especially Acts 2:38-39 and you could also read Titus 3:4-7. Those passages will teach us about the purpose of baptism and more importantly, they will point us to Jesus.

You’re invited to join us for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.

Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,

Pastor Ben

CURRENT SERIES: gLAD YOU ASKED

ICYMI – Pastor Bill started off a new series called Glad You Asked. Throughout this series, our pastors will be answering your big questions about faith and Christianity. To help us understand why we continually go to God with our sins and ask for his forgiveness, Pastor Bill helped us study Jesus’ parable of the unmerciful servant. To read and watch the message, click here.

Coming Up This Weekend –  Pastor Ben continues the series with a message about baptism. We’ll explore what the Bible says about baptism and what that means for all our questions about baptism in our lives. You can join in on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at Victory, on our live stream site, or our YouTube channel.
