We are free. Free to get in our car and go wherever we want. Free to sing praises to our God like our Soccer Camp kids did this week. Free to vote for whomever we choose. Free to seek employment from any company. Free.
The national freedom you and I have didn’t happen simply because some people signed a declaration. Our freedom was won with courage on the battle field. Freedom was won when lives were lost.
We are also spiritually free. Free from sin. Free to live after we die. Free from Satan’s grip. God said it, and God did it. Our freedom was won in an epic battle full of twists and turns, deception, deceit, betrayal, denial, beatings, death… but also truth, grace, mercy, love, forgiveness and an empty tomb. The wages of sin is death. But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. Freedom.
We often take our national freedom and our spiritual freedom for granted. This week, I encourage you to take a deep breath and breathe in your freedom as an American and your freedom as a child of God. And then, in awe, give thanks for your freedom.
God bless America and God bless you!
Sharing Christ’s Victory,
CURRENT SERIES – UNSHAKEABLE
ICYMI – Last weekend, we kicked off our sermons series Unshakeable with a message called “I Love This Place!” Coming to church so you can sit and listen to God’s word IS doing something important. Click here to view this message.
Coming Up This Sunday – This weekend, Pastor Bill will continue our Unshakeable sermon series with a message about God’s forgiveness. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we can rejoice and celebrate our spiritual independence. Join us at 8:30 or 10:15am at church or online. Don’t forget: our Soccer Camp kids will sing their song, “Through It All”, at the 10:15am service.
Franklin Civic Celebration Parade – Victory of the Lamb will share Jesus with the people of Franklin in the parade on July 4 at 11am. The parade travels north along Loomis Rd. (north of Hwy. 100) and ends near Lions Legend Park. Our position in the parade is W21 (west side of Loomis, approximately 10 spots from the back). We need lots of Victory friends sharing smiles and representing our church while walking along the parade float. If you are unable to walk in the parade but still want to participate, you can help out by driving shuttles from the church to the parade and back, or donating candy (individually wrapped, non-chocolate please!) to be handed out to those watching the parade. Email the office if you’re interested in driving a shuttle.
Parking Lot Resurfacing – Merit Asphalt will complete work on the parking lot this upcoming week. Due to this work, the ministry center will be closed on Thursday and Friday (July 5 and 6). We will reopen for deliveries and volunteers on Saturday.
Tuition Assistance Program – To see the tuition assistance guidelines and download an application, visit the Christian Education page of our website. Applications for the 2018-2019 school year are due June 30. To contribute to this fund, go to our online giving page. Under “Select Fund” click on Tuition Assistance.
Victory of the Lamb Apparel – If you are interested in purchasing Victory of the Lamb shirts, this is your opportunity! Click here to view and purchase shirts. We have t-shirts in youth and adult sizes (designed by Naomi Paper Co.), polo shirts for men and women, and button-up shirts for men. The online store closes on July 26, and all items will be available for pick-up at the Ministry Center approximately 2 weeks after that.
Summer Bible Study – Habakkuk had some tough questions for God, and asked God for some answers. He didn’t like God’s answers at first, but he later learned to love them. We will learn to love God’s answers too as we study the Book of Habakkuk. This series, which starts on Wednesday, July 11 from 6:30-7:30pm, will be led by Prof. Forrest (Frosty) Bivens. No RSVP needed; join us as you are able. Visit our Events page for more information about the Bible study.
Brewers Game – On Friday, August 3, join Victory of the Lamb at Miller Park to watch the Brewers take on the Rockies starting at 7:10pm. Visit our Events page for more information, or click here to purchase your tickets. Hope you can join us for fun, friends, and baseball!
Soccer Camp – A huge THANK YOU to all those who volunteered, donated, and participated in Soccer Camp 2018. We had over 60 volunteers help out with coaching and snacks during camp, dozens of set-up and tear-down helpers, and hundreds of items donated for the camp and cookout. Most importantly, over 170 children enjoyed a week of fun, soccer, and God. Thank you for taking this opportunity to serve our community and share the love of Jesus. Check out our Facebook page for pictures and videos from this week.
