Congratulations to our high school and elementary school graduates! After the cold spring that seemed to never end, summer is finally here.
“Summer is a time for _________________.” A lot of things can go in that blank. Things like: grilling out, picnics, water parks, swimming, Soccer Camp, Brewers games, parades, Summerfest, State Fair, camping, vacation and more.
As you make vacation plans, be sure to include worship wherever you go. If you find yourself away from Victory, you can always check us out online at 8:30 and 10:15 am. Or you can check out the WELS Church Locator for a worship home near your vacation spot so you can join in some community-building with fellow Christians.
I hope to see you this Sunday at worship!
Sharing Christ’s Victory,
CURRENT SERIES – ORDINARY PEOPLE, EXTRAORDINARY GOD: SAMSON
ICYMI – Our guest preacher, Pastor Tom Gorzalski (recent Seminary graduate), kicked off our new series Ordinary People, Extraordinary God with a message about what happens when strong people are weak. Click here to view last week’s sermon.
Coming Up This Sunday – This weekend, we will continue our series on Ordinary People Extraordinary God. As we continue to take a look into Samson’s life we will see that every step matters. Join us at 8:30 or 10:15 am at church or online.
Soccer Camp – Soccer Camp is the biggest outreach event of the year, and you have the opportunity to be a part of it! Registration is now closed, and we have almost 150 kids registered for camp with several on a waiting list. Are you able to volunteer your time so the kids on our wait list can join us to play soccer and learn about Jesus? If you are looking for a way to get involved, click here to register for coaching or to help in another way.
Father’s Day – Join us at 8:30 or 10:15 am on Father’s Day (Sunday, June 17) as we celebrate dads. Whether you are a father, have a father, act as a stand-in dad, or know some great dads, we invite you to come learn about your Heavenly Father at this special service. Victory Kids will sing at both services. If you are interested in submitting a photo for a Dad slideshow, please click here to submit your photo. In honor of fathers, we will collect goods to benefit Guest House of Milwaukee. Items being collected are located on the Amazon Wish List for Guest House. Please bring items to church on June 10 or 17 if you want to participate in this opportunity.
Tuition Assistance Program – To see the tuition assistance guidelines and download an application, visit the Christian Education page of our website. Applications for the 2018-2019 school year are due June 30. To contribute to this fund, go to our online giving page. Under “Select Fund” click on Tuition Assistance.
Parsonage Work – Work is still underway at the parsonage located at 7707 W. Plainsview Drive in Franklin. Currently, we are in need of painters and gardeners to make the place look great. If you are able to give an hour or two at any point in the next week, please send an email and you will get set up to help out. Thank you to all the volunteers who have given time and talents so far.
Franklin Civic Celebration Parade – Victory of the Lamb will get out into the community and share Jesus with the people of Franklin by participating in the parade on July 4th. The parade travels north along Loomis Rd. (north of Hwy. 100) and ends near Lions Legend Park. We need lots of Victory friends sharing smiles and representing our church while walking along the parade float. If you are unable to walk in the parade but still want to participate, you can also help out by driving shuttles from the church to the parade and back, or donating candy to be handed out to those watching the parade. Please send an email if you’re interested in shuttling.
Brewers Outing – Save the date for a Victory of the Lamb Brewers outing on Friday, August 3. You can join us for tailgating from 4:00-6:30pm, or just come for the game at 7:00pm. Tickets are $12 per person (over 2), and parking is $13 per vehicle. Stay tuned for more information and to purchase your tickets.
Country Dale School – Victory of the Lamb began a partnership with Country Dale School last summer, looking for ways for us as a community of Christ’s followers to serve the staff and students. Because of your generosity, we have been able to make an impact at Country Dale. During Teacher Appreciation Week, we treated the staff to breakfast. This past Wednesday, hundreds of students and their parents enjoyed ice cream purchased by Victory of the Lamb as the students picked up their yearbooks and celebrated this past school year. Thank you for being a light in our community. Watch for an opportunity to support this partnership later this summer, when you can adopt classrooms to help the teachers purchase supplies and other special touches for their students and spaces.
