Dear Friends,
This Sunday we will be concluding our three-part series “Take Up Your Cross.” In this series, we’re getting at the heart of what Jesus meant when he said, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me” (Matthew 16:24).
We started by looking at what this means especially for our young people—those heading out the door for school, our teens, our college age students and young adults. We learned how none of us is in this cross-carrying struggle alone. We also learned how to lean on God and each other for strength as we live our lives under the cross. Last week I talked about, “What is it that make you it?” And we learned that Jesus is the one who makes us it! And when we take up our cross we lose things like: the burdens of self-reliance, arrogance, disappointment, doubt, envy, death, grief, sin, guilt, and shame! In case you missed it, or would like to watch it again or share it you can find the message here.
This Sunday Pastor Ben will talk about the crosses in the golden years. And like with the first two messages, we are going to find that it will apply to all of us as whether we are in the golden ayears of life or not. So, join us this Sunday at Victory of the Lamb at 8:30 or 10:15 as we come together as a growing family of people from all kinds of different backgrounds to grow and support each other. Come discover how your life is part of God’s bigger story, in a place where you can truly belong.
Logo Refreshed
After a summer of working with us, our resident artist Naomi Scheel has finished the project of refreshing our church logo! Naomi gives us a fantastic description of the logo: “Using bold and precise lines, strong colors, and memorable symbols, the new logo tells a story that proclaims Christ’s victory through the cross and His resurrection. The simplicity of the logo communicates the bold, vibrant, and welcoming community of Victory of the Lamb while also carrying a deeper meaning of the Gospel within it. The rising sun doubles as an empty tomb, pointing to the victory won by God’s son rising from the grave, while the three sun rays call to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Gospel message wrapped up in a modern design helps us better share Christ’s victory with today’s people, loving them enough to meet them where they are!”
