Victory News – March 1, 2019

Dear Friends,

How’s that sharing thing going for you? Most two-year-olds have the “not sharing” thing down pat. It’s kind of like, “No way am I giving you what I have, and more than that I want what you have.” They struggle with sharing, even though we taught them to share.

Sometimes, we adults are good at not sharing too. For those of us who are Christians, we have the greatest news of all and we often want to share it, but we get stuck for one reason or another. Sometimes, when the offering plate goes by during worship, we share our leftovers instead of our best.

Thankfully, God doesn’t get stuck when it comes to sharing. Every good and perfect gift comes from above, and that includes his son Jesus. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification (Romans 4:25). Justification means we are declared not guilty of our sins, including our sins of not sharing.

Join me for Sunday worship. I look forward to seeing you in person at 9:00 or 10:30am at Victory or online.

Sharing Christ’s Love and Victory,

Pastor Bill

ICYMI – Last Sunday, Pastor Bill shared a message about the masks we wear. We pretend everything’s okay when it’s really not. But God tells you the truth: you’re worthy, loved, and important. Click here to view or read last Sunday’s message.

Coming Up This Sunday – This week, Pastor Bill will continue the series with a message about what we really need. We often compare ourselves with others. What we really need is God’s love and forgiveness, which we have through Jesus.  Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at church or online.

Call Update – On February 12, our Leadership Team extended a call to Pastor Ben Sadler to be an associate pastor at Victory. Pastor Ben currently serves at Goodview Trinity Lutheran Church in Winona, MN. Please keep Pastor Ben, his family, and Goodview Trinity in your prayers as Pastor Ben deliberates his calls.

Ash Wednesday – Victory of the Lamb will host an Ash Wednesday service on Wednesday, March 6 at 6:30pm. This will be a brief but meaningful time to lead us to Good Friday and the Resurrection celebration of Easter Sunday. We will have songs, a brief message, and Communion to help you reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus.

Mystery Giver – OOPS! We have a generous giver who has been using envelopes with #3011 on them. However, we have no idea who it is! If you have this number on your offering envelopes, please email the office or let someone know on Sunday. We want to make sure to record your offerings into your account.

Small Groups Starting Soon! – Last week, we introduced you to our small group opportunities at Victory. Small Groups are the best way to get connected to others at Victory and grow in your faith. To learn more about the opportunities and to sign up, click here.

Lutherans for Life Craft Fair – WELS Lutherans for Life is hosting a Craft Fair on March 30 from 10:00am-3:00pm at St. John’s Lutheran School (68th and Forest Home in Milwaukee). They are currently looking for bakers to prepare some items for the bake sale. If you are interested in supporting this event, click here to visit the Craft Fair’s website.

Seminary Scurry 2019 – The Seminary Scurry is quickly approaching on Saturday, May 4. All families, students, and members can join in the 5K run or Kid’s Dash that morning. Students 18 years or younger are FREE. Adults older than 18 years are $20. Each race participant will receive this year’s Seminary Scurry t-Shirt. There is a FREE lunch to follow both races, along with bounce houses, face-painting, and outdoor games for the kids. Click here to register for the event.
