What is your most powerful muscle? If you go to a fitness center you can see people working on their abs, their glutes, their biceps, triceps and more. As you work out, you notice that some muscles are stronger than others. But hopefully everyone is there to get stronger on their own and not to compare with others.
As you consider your body, what is the most powerful muscle you have? No matter who you are, I know your answer. I know your answer because the answer is universal.
Let me give you a hint: Do you sometimes find yourself opening your mouth when you shouldn’t? Have you ever “stuck your foot in your mouth”? Maybe you would like to take back something you said but it has already hit and destroyed someone.
Our tongue is a small muscle, barely over three inches long, but it is powerful. Do you remember the lie that many of us were taught that “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me?” We know that our words are powerful.
This weekend as we continue the Detox series, we’ll discover the power of our tongues. Our tongues have the power to encourage or discourage, to love or hate, respect or disrespect, and more.
Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,
CURRENT SERIES – DETOX
ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Ben continued the series with a message about living out our faith. God teaches us that “faith without deeds is dead”. In other words, God wants us to serve and care for others as a reflection of His love in our communities. Click here to read or watch this message.
Coming Up This Weekend – Pastor Bill helps us examine the power of our tongues. God’s Word teaches us how powerful our words can be. Instead of speaking everything that comes to mind, Christians are encouraged to “tame our tongues” and listen first. Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am. You can join in these services at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.
Online Prayer Gatherings – Prepare your heart for Easter during the Lenten season. Join Pastor Bill online via Zoom or on Facebook for Online Prayer Gatherings, on Wednesdays in March at 8:00pm each night. Learn more and jump on here: https://votl.life/prayer.
Easter Egg Hunt – To give our community families a fun, safe event, Victory will host an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 20. We are excited to say that registration is FULL! Click here to learn more about the event and sign up for the waiting list for the Egg Hunt.
Easter at Victory – Easter is less than a month away! Who are you inviting to Easter at Victory? We’ll be hosting Easter services on Saturday, April 3 at 5:00pm and on Sunday, April 4 at 9:00 & 10:30am. We encourage you to pray about who you might invite to join you at Victory or online for worship. Go to votl.life/invite to find tools to invite others to Easter at Victory, and to learn about a fun opportunity for you to help Victory invite our community to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection.
Update on Staffing – We’re excited to announce that, starting this week, Annie Buege’s position of Music Coordinator will become a full-time position as she continues to grow our worship ministries. Also, as the Leadership Team considers the next steps for filling the position of Children’s Ministry Director, Laura Bulanek will continue to serve as Interim Director. We are blessed to have both Laura and Annie as part of the staff at Victory!
Daylight Saving Time Starts This Weekend – Set your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night. Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday at 2:00am. And don’t worry if you get up too late to get to the Ministry Center for worship… you can join in online or catch the full service on YouTube any time on Sunday!
Thrivent Choice Dollars Designation – March 31 is the deadline for Thrivent Members to designate their 2020 Thrivent Choice funds. We encourage you to prayerfully consider designating your funds to Victory of the Lamb. To learn more about this opportunity, click here.
