To be honest, I struggle with some temptations. I can’t stand it. I’m tired of it. This side of heaven, we will all struggle with temptations.
Here is some of what I have learned about temptation. If I rely on my own strength and my own willpower, it is just a matter of time before I cave and then have the guilt and shame that follow my indulgence. The more I think about avoiding the temptation, the more I actually think about the temptation. Sometimes it seems like, “why try, I’m just going to fail”. But that is not true.
(1 Corinthians 10:13) No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
Obviously, I have failed. But Jesus our Savior never failed. That is why we call Jesus, Savior.
Join me for Sunday worship as we get real about temptation. I look forward to seeing you in person at 9:00 or 10:30am at Victory or online.
Sharing Christ’s Love and Victory,
CURRENT SERIES – LET’S BE REAL
ICYMI – Last Sunday, Pastor Bill shared a message about the value of prayer. When we make prayer a priority, focusing on God’s will and building a relationship with Him, it’s a lot easier to accept God’s answers to our prayers. Click here to view or read last Sunday’s message.
Coming Up This Sunday – This week, Pastor Bill will share a message about temptation. When we make the decision to indulge in temptation, we hurt our relationship with others and with God. In grace, God leads us to Jesus who brings everlasting life. Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at church or online.
Call Update – The Sadler family will move into the parsonage on Saturday, April 13.
