Victory News – March 18, 2022

Hi Friends,

When was the last time you turned on your living room TV, only to have people committing adultery show up on your screen and infiltrate the sacred space of your heart? When was the last time you turned on the radio in your car and you heard the lyrics celebrating sex outside of marriage?

Many live by a creed of sexual autonomy: my body is my own, and my sexual desires (whatever they are) are normal and healthy. But the God who saved us and whom we worship says,  Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

The lifelong union of one man and one woman in marriage portrays truths about Christ and the church. One spiritual truth of marriage is that God made an eternal union between His Son and the Church. Human marriage is the earthly image of this divine plan. Another spiritual truth is that, as God willed for Christ and the church to become one body, so he willed for marriage to reflect this pattern—that the husband and wife become one flesh. Husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her.

I am eager to share these truths and the truth of redeeming grace with you again this weekend. You’re invited to worship this weekend on Sunday at 9:00 & 10:30am. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.

Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,

Pastor Bill

ICYMI – Pastor Ben continued the series with a message about the Fifth Commandment. When we help and support our neighbors in every physical need, we are fearing and loving God. You can click here to read and watch this message.

Coming Up This Weekend – Pastor Bill helps us explore the Sixth Commandment. God created sex as a gift to be shared within a marriage, but our sinful desires often lead us to explore this gift in impure and unfaithful ways. You can join in these services on Sunday at 9:00 & 10:30am at Victory, on our live stream site, or our YouTube channel.

Easter Egg Hunt – Our Easter Egg Hunt is coming up very soon on April 2! We have a limited number of spots for attendees, so register now if you plan to attend. We are still looking for volunteers to serve in various capacities to prepare for and host the Egg Hunt. Click here to sign up to attend, donate, and/or volunteer.

WELS Youth Rally Informational Meeting – Victory will be sending a group of teens (8th-12th grades) to the 2022 WELS International Youth Rally, happening in Knoxville, TN this summer. If you have a teen who is interested in attending, you’re invited to an informational meeting with Pastor Ben on Sunday, March 27 at 11:45am. No RSVP needed; join this meeting to learn about cost, travel plans, and more.

Support Ukraine – We continue to pray for the situation unfolding in Ukraine. If you would like to support the people in Ukraine and refugees leaving the situation, we encourage you to give to a reputable organization such as Samaritan’s Purse, UNICEF, and the WELS Christian Aid and Relief (designate Ukraine from the drop-down menu).
