One summer I did some camping outside of Anchorage, AK. As I made my way through the heavily forested area with a river rushing close by, I knew this was bear country. You see, a bear made it into our camp one night and came right up to our tent. (I prayed really hard.) As I was walking near the campsite, a thought kept coming to me: “Make noise.” Why make noise? Because a grizzly bear mom is very protective of her cubs.
As parents, we also desire to protect our children from harm because Love Protects. What are some ways that your parents tried to protect you from harm?
This weekend we are going to continue our series “Crazy Love,” with a message that leads us to see that Crazy Love offers a Life Protection Policy.
ICYMI – here is last week’s message that illustrates Living Up To Greatness. See how a brown paper bag and a towel reminds us that God can use our simple acts of service to do great things!
Pastor Jon Kehl – On February 22, we called Pastor Jon Kehl to be our Associate Pastor. Pastor Jon is currently serving Crown of Life Lutheran Church in New Orleans, LA. He is married to Erin and together they have an almost two year old boy, Abe. Please keep the Kehls, Crown of Life, and Victory of the Lamb in your prayers as he deliberates this call.
Leadership Team – Here are the minutes of our last Leadership Team meeting. If you have any questions, please contact any one of our membership team members, whose contact information is located here.
Sanctuary Art Installation Date – Starting March 19th, Paul Mattek and his crew from Design Fugitives will be installing the sanctuary art. The installation and furniture delivery should be concluded by the end of the day on Friday. Thank you all who generously donated toward this project.
#BecauseofJesus – One person wrote: “I received $5.00 and thought about how I could grow that amount. During a small family Thanksgiving dinner, I shared the assignment add asked each family member to match the $5. A couple gave me $20s and another $10…so I had $55 to spend on hats, scarves, mittens, and socks. I am delivering to homeless shelter on Milwaukee’s South Side after school today. I think we will make this an annual tradition at Thanksgiving.”
Matching Gifts – One area of stewardship is the Matching Gift program that many companies offer their employees. For example, Northwestern Mutual Life, JP Morgan Chase, Salesforce, and BMO Harris have matching grant programs from which Victory of the Lamb has benefited. We would encourage you to do the following:
- Contact your employer to see if there is a matching gift program available and how much can be matched;
- Determine whether VotL would be eligible for a matching gift; and
- Submit a proof of donation to your company and ask for the match. Some companies may have you submit the form, and they will then verify with VotL if the gift has been received. (Note: Companies that have these programs will allow you to make annual donations up to the matching limit.)
