Victory News – March 22, 2019

Dear Friends,

The NCAA Tournament is in full swing now that March Madness has begun. Games come one after another with a dominating win here, a close game here, and upsets there.

You want to know what madness really is? It is when someone tries to hold onto their sin debt that has already been paid. And by trying to hold onto this debt that has already been paid, many of us have walked or are walking the road of depression, anxiety, sadness, and anger. We try to prove ourselves when God has already approved us through the cross.

Let’s be real: we all need forgiveness, no matter who we are. And no matter who you are, forgiveness is won for you at the cross of Jesus. Your debt is paid in full. As Jesus was being crucified he said,  “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). Jesus nailed forgiveness. The victory is yours to receive!

I look forward to seeing you in person at 9:00 or 10:30am at Victory or online.

Sharing Christ’s Love and Victory,

Pastor Bill

ICYMI – Last Sunday, Pastor Bill shared a message about temptation. When we make the decision to indulge in temptation, we hurt our relationship with others and with God. In grace, God leads us to Jesus who brings everlasting life.  Click here to view or read last Sunday’s message.

Coming Up This Sunday – This week, Pastor Bill will wrap up our Let’s Be Real series with a message about authenticity. God knows all our sins, and that’s why he sent Jesus, whose sacrifice was enough to pay for them all. Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at church or online.

Installation Service – On Sunday, April 28, we will officially install Pastor Ben Sadler as pastor at Victory of the Lamb during the 10:30am service. We’ll have an Installation Celebration afterwards. Next week, we’ll send out an email to provide you an opportunity to get involved in making this celebration happen.

Leadership Team Update – Click here to view the meeting minutes from the Leadership Team Meeting, held on March 12 at the Ministry Center. Any questions? Contact the Leadership Team at leadershipteam@victoryofthelamb.com.

Thrivent Choice Dollars – This is the time of the year where you can designate your Thrivent Choice Dollars to your favorite charities. Our church could receive a total benefit of over $1,000 if all our Thrivent members remember to designate their allotted amount before the dollars expire on March 31st, 2019.  If you a Thrivent member, you can do this in either of 2 ways: call 1-800-847-4836 and say “Thrivent Choice” at the prompt to send your allocated dollars to Victory of the Lamb Church; OR log in to the Thrivent Website and select “Designate Choice Dollars” to do the same.  Thank you for your generosity!

Thai Cooking Class – If you enjoyed the egg rolls at the Cafe during the Christmas Eve services, you now have an opportunity to learn how to make them for yourself! Join us for a Thai Cooking Class on Sunday, April 14 from 1-3:30pm at Victory of the Lamb. This is a free event open to anyone 18 years and older, but you need to register. Space is limited, so click here to sign up if you’re interested in this opportunity.

Lutherans for Life Craft Fair – WELS Lutherans for Life is hosting a Craft Fair on March 30 from 10am-3pm at St. John’s Lutheran School (68th and Forest Home in Milwaukee). If you are interested in supporting this event, click here to visit the Craft Fair’s website.

Holy Week Services – Holy Week is coming up in one month. Victory of the Lamb will celebrate Holy Week with services on Palm Sunday (April 14, 9:00 and 10:30am), Maundy Thursday (April 18, 6:30pm), and Good Friday (April 19, 6:30pm). We’ll wrap up Holy Week with a Resurrection Celebration on Easter Sunday (April 21) at 9:00 and 10:30am. For more information about each of these services, go to our events page. We encourage you to pray about who you could invite to join you for church for these services.
