How are your Easter preparations coming along? There is so much to do. For some, it is buying, making, or baking for the Easter baskets, or Easter dinner . . . and don’t forget about the Easter breakfast at the Victory Café. Maybe your to-do list includes buying new clothes, finding new shoes, or getting your hair cut. Maybe it is about fixing up the guest room for family or friends who will be staying with you. You might need to make sure you purchased the Easter lilies. It might be dying the Easter eggs or getting the eggs ready for the Easter egg hunt. Some people need to plan special music for worship. For a lot of us, it is all of the above and more.
If you are like me, sometimes you can get so busy preparing for things that you miss the heart of what you are actually celebrating.
Easter is Jesus’ stilled heart beating all over again, never to stop again, beating for you, for me, for the world. Jesus’ beating heart is the proof of God’s victory over sin (and all of its temporal ramifications), death (and its eternal ramifications), and Satan (and all of his power).
Jesus lives; the Victory is won!
Good Friday worship is tonight at 6:30 pm. Easter Sunday worship is at 8:30 and 10:15 am. I invite you to celebrate the victory of the Lamb with me this weekend. And if possible, bring a friend or family member with you. If you are unable to attend in worship, please join us via live stream.
